About the Role
The Head of Expansion is a key leadership role within the Commercial Excellence portfolio, reporting to the Rest of EMEA Expansion Lead. This role is instrumental in driving strategic growth across Sub-Saharan Africa, with a specific focus on expanding our merchant base and deepening existing relationships.
You will lead a tiered team structure comprising sub-leads across different segments, along with account managers who execute on the ground. The mission of the Eats team is to serve as a reliable growth engine for our merchant partners. With the SSA region experiencing rapid development across diverse and dynamic markets, this role plays a critical part in identifying and unlocking high-impact opportunities for sustainable growth.

You will be responsible for critical performance indicators that directly influence the team's P&L and success metrics. This is a high-exposure role, offering cross-functional collaboration across multiple workstreams and markets, and the opportunity to build a broad commercial skill set.
What You'll Do
- Lead and manage a team responsible for driving expansion by selling Uber Eats and its product suite (including Ads, Offers, and other merchant-facing solutions) to restaurants and retailers.
- Secure and maintain high-potential restaurant and retail partners on the platform at sustainable and strategic service fee levels.
- Oversee onboarding efforts to ensure smooth integration of new partners and maximize their value proposition on the platform through initiatives such as merchant-led promotions and offers.
- Collaborate with regional SSA and EMEA teams to enhance partner earnings and operational performance on the platform.
- Develop and implement selection criteria to strategically prioritize high-potential merchants, focusing efforts on those with the greatest potential to drive top-line growth.
What You'll Need
- 10+ years of experience in account management, sales, or business development, including at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
- Deep understanding of the restaurant, retail, or platform-based business landscape, including key trends and competitor dynamics.
- Proven track record of setting clear goals and driving executional excellence in fast-paced, cross-functional environments.
- Experience leading teams, owning KPIs, and communicating progress effectively to senior stakeholders.
- Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to navigate complex contexts and drive win-win outcomes in high-stakes conversations.
- Sharp business acumen with a firm grasp of the Uber Eats business model and the ability to engage internal and external stakeholders around it.
- Highly collaborative and team-oriented, with strong stakeholder management skills and an ability to work effectively across the broader Uber Eats SSA and EMEA organizations.
