About the Role
UPUK is currently seeking an enthusiastic and ambitious individual to join the finance team. Reporting into the Finance Lead, the role will play an integral part in supporting the primary day to day finance activities of UPUK.
The Financial Controller will provide key support to the Finance Function by performing essential monitoring and reconciliation work. As this is a small team you will have an opportunity to influence the team and take on additional responsibilities.
What You'll Do
- Perform daily reconciliation procedures for safeguarding relevant funds held in custodian bank accounts and carry out other reconciliations such as bank, partner payables, collections and disbursements
- Monitor the liquidity and solvency position of the entity, ensuring regulatory requirements are being adhered to at all times
- Preparing and managing regulatory, management and financial reporting
- Maintain and monitor key finance controls, ensuring that they are evidenced and being performed in line with company and regulatory policies
- Assist with internal and external audit requests
- Ad hoc requests to support the Finance Lead with day to day operations

What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Qualified ACA/CPA/CA/ACCA or equivalent qualification preferred
- 4-8 years of professional experience, with 1+ years of relevant month-end close experience
- Proficient excel skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Big 4 experience, financial services, payments, safeguarding and SQL is a strong plus
- A strong understanding of fundamental accounting concepts, principles and tax
- Proactive, able to effectively prioritize and focus on what matters whilst committed to getting the job done
- The ability to handle large volumes of data, create pivot tables to assess the quality of the data and draw conclusions
- A good eye for detail, with the ability to drill down when necessary whilst maintaining a helicopter view
- Strong risk appetite, ability to understand processes and controls
- A collaborative team player, who works well independently and enjoys working cross-functionally and at all levels of the organization
- Good interpersonal skills to communicate key information and status to stakeholders
- Comfortable in managing ambiguous situations
- Flexible and adaptable working style and attitude
