About the Role

We are looking for someone to lead our Government Affairs & Policy teams in Mexico, based in Mexico City. You will report to out Sr Director of Public Policy & Government Affairs LATAM.

What You'll Do

  • Developing deep issue expertise on the wide range of complicated public policy issues facing Uber globally and across all lines of business
  • Making decisions with an eye not only on the immediate issue at hand, but on the long-term and global implications of policy decisions
  • Transforming quantitative and qualitative research done by teams in HQ into politically relevant arguments that our teams can utilize while engaging policymakers around the world
  • Owning relationships with other functions throughout the company, including ops, product, safety, legal, tax, etc., and offering strategic advice to business partners in those functions

What You'll Need

  • 10+ years of proven experience in government, law, competition policy, digital marketplaces, consumer protection, or project management
  • Experience counseling clients on technology policy subjects and leading multiple business priorities

Bonus Points If

  • Passionate about Uber's mission: Prior experience in public policy fields relevant to Uber is a must, as is a plastic mind to understand technical policy issues quickly and thoroughly.
  • A caring and dedicated people manager who believes that attracting key talent and retaining it is the most important job you can have.
  • A strong project manager: You should be able to conceptualize, own, drive and complete a large number of projects that will move the needle on many issues and support our overall arguments.
  • An optimist and a cynic both, who believes strongly that only the devil's advocate can expose all the weaknesses in our work product and our arguments in order to make Uber better.
  • A team player who communicates regularly and crisply in complex organizational settings so that the right people are always informed.
  • We need someone who lives and breathes Uber and its unique place in the public policy ecosystem.

Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Uber's cultural identity.
