About the Role
Uber is seeking a seasoned Engineering Director to lead the charter of Earner Financials. This role is pivotal in developing and scaling solutions that on one hand - directly impact the financial well-being and overall experience of our driver partners, and on the other - help Uber maintain a clean posture with regulators and regional laws.
The charter is constituted of the following domains:
Earner Financials
- Earnings: Own and operate the set of products in the Driver app that help drivers understand their earnings, and strategize on mechanisms to improve their earnings.
- Benefits: Build the end to end systems that evaluate and process the Benefits which Uber provides to the gig workers.
- Subscriptions: Build & scale this new engagement model with Drivers where they pay a subscription to work with Uber, as opposed to per-trip service fee.

What You'll Do
- Lead and Develop Engineering Teams: Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing engineering organization. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence
- Drive Product Strategy: Partner closely with product management and cross-functional teams to define the product roadmap, prioritize features, and ensure alignment with overall business objectives
- Deliver Scalable Solutions: Architect, design, and implement scalable and reliable engineering solutions to support driver earnings, benefits, and subscription programs
- Optimize Driver Experience: Leverage data and insights to identify opportunities to enhance the driver experience, increase driver satisfaction, and improve earnings potential
What You'll Need
- 15+ years of progressively senior experience in engineering in a large technology enterprise or other large enterprises in a technology heavy industry
- 10+ years of experience in a leadership role, building, mentoring, and managing teams and managing managers
- Proven track record in leading and scaling engineering teams in a high-growth environment
- Strong technical expertise in relevant technologies and platforms
- Experience in building and scaling large-scale systems
- Demonstrated ability to drive product strategy and deliver results
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Passion for improving the lives of drivers
- Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a relevant technical field
Bonus Points If
- Experience in the ride-sharing or on-demand economy
- Knowledge of financial systems and payment processing

This is a heavily cross functional team based in Amsterdam. The team currently consists of ~35 engineers & 3 engineering managers - with a plan to add another 8 engineers in this year.
