Central Operations Manager, EMEA Marketplace

Amsterdam, Netherlands

About the Role

The EMEA Mobility Central Operations team, in close partnership with Regional teams, shapes the vision, strategy, and execution of Uber's Mobility operations across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). Operations is at the heart of our business, ensuring seamless experiences for our riders and driver partners while driving the growth of Uber's platform. Central Operations consists of four verticals Rider Operations, Driver Operations, Marketplace and Business Operations.

The Marketplace team sits at the crux of Uber's two-side marketplace, with our riders on the one side and our driver-partners on the other. Through optimal pricing decisions, the efficient and targeted use of rider promotions and driver incentives, and leveraging Uber's powerful pricing and matching technology, we ensure that our marketplace continues to operate smoothly and is well set up for long-term growth.

We are looking for 3 roles within the Marketplace team: Core Pricing, Reliability and Investments. These roles will play a pivotal part in driving growth through strategic pricing decisions, finding optimum configurations to improve reliability and supporting our local teams in designing and deploying effective investment strategies. By analyzing large datasets and identifying trends, you'll develop actionable insights to unlock business opportunities and improve the rider and driver experience.

We're looking for a highly analytical and proactive problem solver who can build a strong intuition for the ridesharing marketplace. This role requires a deep curiosity for marketplace dynamics, a track record of turning complex challenges into scalable solutions, and the ability to collaborate effectively with regional and cross-functional teams.

What the Candidate Will Do:

The Core Pricing role is focused on:

  • Proactive Pricing Strategies: Analyze pricing and marketplace data to identify and recommend pricing opportunities that drive business growth, while balancing the rider and driver experience. Build tooling that will efficiently generate these insights at scale.
  • Competitive Pricing Management: Implement and assess competitive pricing strategies to boost Uber's competitive position within EMEA markets.
  • Pricing Operations: Scope, recommend, implement, and evaluate the impact of pricing changes to optimize performance across EMEA markets.

The Reliability role is focused on:

  • Developing and executing data-driven strategies to optimize Uber Priority's reliability, availability, and pricing across EMEA
  • Enhancing product performance by monitoring key metrics (e.g. pickup times, conversion rates, financials) and collaborating with Product teams to drive improvements.
  • Conducting relevant analytical deep-dives to improve overall reliability across EMEA, size and identify key initiatives

The Investments role is focused on:

  • Investment Allocation: Collaborate with stakeholders in select EMEA regions to achieve their competitive goals by informing their investment allocation strategy with the help of our team's models and frameworks
  • Investment Operations: Deploy the agreed upon investment strategy using our suite of automated incentive tools. Analyze previous campaigns performance in terms of spend accuracy and efficiency.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to and lead key projects on our Investments roadmap that will enable us to continue to push the envelope on spend efficiency and operational excellence, e.g. by further automating some of our processes or by coming up with innovative ways to deploy our incentive levers.

Across all these three roles, you will:

  • Collaborate with Local Operations Teams: Work closely with regional teams to understand market dynamics, implement configurations, and ensure seamless execution of initiatives.
  • Monitor and Optimize Rollouts: Lead the thinking around and implementation of improved frameworks and processes, while continuously refining for efficiency and scalability.
  • Experiment and Innovate: Design, run and analyze experiments to explore new approaches and drive innovation in our Marketplace operations.
  • Collaborate on Product Innovation: Partner with HQ Product teams to shape and design new tools or products tailored to local market needs.
  • Represent EMEA Markets: Act as the voice of EMEA to HQ Product and Engineering teams to align priorities and ensure the region's needs are met. Share and identify best practices across other megaregions (eg. US&C, LatAm, etc)

What the Candidate Will Need / Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience: 3+ years in an analytical role such as Data Analytics, Data Science, Consulting, or Tech Operations.
  • Education: Strong undergraduate degree, ideally in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics or similar
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to synthesize large datasets into actionable insights and solutions. Experience with A/B testing is a plus.
  • SQL Expertise: Proficiency in SQL (Intermediate required; Advanced preferred).
  • Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated ability to design and scale solutions across multiple markets while balancing operational trade-offs.
  • Problem Solving & Initiative: A proactive mindset with a passion for identifying and solving complex problems.
  • Collaboration: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience working in cross-functional teams.
  • Adaptability: Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.

Preferred Qualification / Bonus Points:

  • Python Skills: Proficiency in pandas/plotting; familiarity with ML/optimization techniques is a bonus.

We welcome people from all backgrounds who seek the opportunity to help build a future where everyone and everything can move independently. If you have the curiosity, passion, and collaborative spirit, work with us, and let's move the world forward, together.
