About the Role
We're seeking a product or platform-focused Backend Engineer II to help develop new features for Uber Eats across various product surfaces. Your work will empower consumers to better navigate the platform while supporting the scalable growth of our ecosystem. In this role, you'll collaborate with stakeholders to identify and define product requirements, translate them into scalable technical designs, and work with fellow engineers to implement and launch new features.

Basic Qualifications
- Strong sense of ownership, grit, and drive.
- Minimum of 2+ years of hands-on experience in backend development.
- Proven experience in scalable software development, considering factors like latency and distributed architecture.
- Experience analyzing production features through analytics and experimentation.
- Team-oriented with experience collaborating on projects and working efficiently in a group.
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity and tackle challenges with a go-getter attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with large-scale, consumer-facing applications or platforms.
- Familiarity with real-time systems and data pipelines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset in a fast-paced environment.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable backend software solutions.
- Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and engineers to deliver innovative solutions to complex problems.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from design and architecture to testing and deployment.
- Conduct code reviews and provide feedback to ensure high code quality and engineering standards.
For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$158,000 per year - USD$175,500 per year.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$158,000 per year - USD$175,500 per year.
For Seattle, WA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$158,000 per year - USD$175,500 per year.
For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$158,000 per year - USD$175,500 per year.
