Key Operations Accounting Manager Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results
  • Oversee and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close-related activities
  • Report on closing metrics and lead post-close debrief meetings
  • Provide comprehensive financial reports and analysis to internal and external stakeholders
  • Prepare presentation materials for operating committee, audit committee and investor meetings
  • Maintain and enhance established budgeting and forecasting processes, with specific emphasis on corporate EBITDA components, balance sheet and free cash flow
  • Support mergers and acquisitions through analysis, due diligence, and integration
  • Support the implementation of Blackline initiatives around the close checklist and reconciliations
  • Support and review of 842 Lease Accounting work performed by team
  • Lead/support improvement projects aimed at increasing efficiency, scalability, and automation.
  • Responsible for reconciliation of assigned balance sheet accounts with identification and timely resolution/clearing of any reconciling items
  • Set priorities and goals for colleagues that support the accounting team's broader strategic plan and direction
  • Facilitate team environment, and create a positive and motivating climate for team members maximizing productivity
  • Delegate tasks, reassign duties as appropriate, and develop highly skilled team members
  • Provide technical guidance to employees, colleagues and/or customers
  • Other duties and projects, as assigned

Successful Operations Accounting Manager Candidates Will Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, required
  • CPA or CMA and MBA preferred, but not required
  • 5+ years of relevant accounting & finance experience
  • Retail and distribution industry experience desired
  • Proficiency with all Microsoft Office products, including advanced Excel skills
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and appropriately apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles to financial transactions, including documenting and communicating accounting decisions to management and external auditors
  • Ability to research accounting questions/concerns and present clear, concise and actionable findings for review
  • Well versed in performing detailed balance sheet and income statement analytics
  • Ability to look at the root cause of process and efficiency issues, leading to solution alternatives
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to work with remote teams and communicate effectively with senior management
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, communication and analytical skills
  • Strong inter-personal skills and proven ability to be a team player in order to lead and work in cross-functional teams across multiple departments and various levels of the organization
  • Proven ability to manage priorities and workflow with acute attention to detail, and ability to work independently and autonomously in a dynamic environment
  • Ability and willingness to "roll-up sleeves" and delve deep into processes
