Job Description
The primary responsibility of the Hardware Testing Engineer (HTE) is to work as a member within the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) team located onsite at our facility in Corvallis, Oregon. The UAT team undertakes a wide range of duties, related to testing and performance analysis of unreleased surveying controllers, data collectors, and associated products. The HTE will be a key member of the New Product Introduction (NPI) team, and will significantly contribute to product design and development. Along with these development efforts, the HTE also helps to sustain currently released products.

Scope
The HTE will report to the Hardware Testing Engineering team manager. You will work closely with development sites, suppliers, and customers around the world to design and deliver state-of-the-art mobile devices. Relying on their solid technical knowledge and a foundation in Trimble solutions, combined with a customer focused mentality, the HTE provides direct and immediate feedback on overall system designs, to ensure our products meet (and or exceed) our customer's needs. The HTE will also apply unique customer perspectives to requirements for new products on behalf of the MCS division to ensure successful product introductions and market acceptance.
Primary Duties
- Develops, executes and draws conclusions on test plans involving multiple hardware / firmware / software systems. Testing includes both office and in field testing to closely replicate how users will interact with products and consume data
- Execute market acceptance testing in concert with development teams to identify, isolate and report problems or design shortcomings from a customer perspective during product development and well before first customer ship
- Manage development bug databases to help prioritize, test, and close bugs
- Conduct ongoing systems testing to ensure proper functioning and up-to-date feature sets of existing and new products
- Track down and reproduce elusive, intermittent system issues; reporting them immediately to the respective engineering team for corrective action
- Content review of market requirements documents in specific areas of expertise
- Provide technical advice and assistance to the marketing, support and sales organizations in the company, as well as to our distribution partners
- Analyze and compare competitive products in related fields
- Remain abreast of current developments and domain specific technologies, as well as industry trends
- Interface and train technical support, technical sales, and training teams prior to new product introductions

- Communication - clearly conveying information, ideas, and opinions through a variety of media solutions to individuals or groups, so they clearly understand your message or to learn from your knowledge
- Knowledge of Jira, Google Docs/Sheets, or comparable products
- Willingness to travel, if required, to another development site, internal customer, or overseas supplier.
- Knowledge of Trimble solution software, such as Trimble Access, Trimble Perspective, Trimble Siteworks, or Trimble Fieldlink.
- Creative thinker - actively thinking outside the box to investigate or create inventive ways to implement new technological solutions for our customers
- Continuous learning -actively identifying new areas for learning; regularly creating and taking advantage of learning opportunities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, surveying, or in a related field, and/or
- 3 years test experience with mobile devices, radio's, and/or
- Field experience in the surveying or construction industry

This compensation range is based on a full time schedule.
