We are looking for a Senior Counsel for the US Financial Services team. The candidate will manage a portfolio of existing commercial agreements, draft and negotiate new agreements with our customers, anticipate and protect the company against risk exposure, advise stakeholders on the status of agreement negotiations, and exhibit a willingness to learn. The candidate will also have mentoring responsibility for one or more team members.

What You'll Bring:
  • Juris Doctorate (JD) degree required and 4-6 years of experience as a practicing attorney (in-house or law firm). Preferred experience includes advising clients with regard to and negotiating financial, data, and technology licensing agreements in a regulated environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the following areas of law are preferred, but not required: FCRA, GLBA, privacy, technology, intellectual property, and partnering arrangements.
  • A team player ready to work closely in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with other attorneys, compliance professionals, business clients and senior leaders.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and critical-thinking skills (root cause analysis, problem solving, issue spotting, and decision making).
  • Ability to work cross-functionally across corporate matrix with various teams and regions
  • Strong work ethic with the demonstrated ability to manage and handle a significant and diverse work flow in an effective and timely manner.
  • Ability to work independently, yet exhibit sound judgment in seeking guidance and direction from senior attorneys and escalating issues.
  • Ability to read, interpret and advise business partners on complex documents, including laws, contracts, business documents, system documents, company policies, and procedures.
  • Executive level written and oral communication skills and advocacy experience.
  • Ability to build and foster strong relationships with, and relate well to, peers, staff, and management of all levels of the organization.
  • Make impactful legal decisions and business recommendations for an innovative, dynamic, public company that is a leader in the global marketplace.
Impact You'll Make:
  • Advise internal clients on legal and business issues and the implications of alternative positions to enable informed business decisions.
  • Maintain primary responsibility for reviewing, negotiating, and drafting complex contracts and related documents.
  • Provide advice to stakeholders regarding changes in the law, contracts, or other legal issues that may involve the company's short or long-term strategic operations.
  • Responsible for keeping abreast of current legislative and regulatory developments that may have an impact upon operations.
  • Assists other attorneys on various matters including those which present potential for litigation.
  • Maintain complete confidentiality of company-related business.
  • Keep immediate supervisor informed of pertinent developments within areas of assigned responsibilities.
  • Provide formal and informal training for internal clients.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.

Pay Scale Information :

The U.S. base salary range for this position is $100,100.00 - $150,000.00 annually. *The salary range for this position reflects a reasonable estimate of the range of compensation for this job. At TransUnion, actual compensation is based on careful consideration of additional factors such as (but not limited to) an individual's education, training, work experience, job-related skill set, location, and industry knowledge, as well as the scope and responsibilities of the position and market considerations.

Regular, fulltime non-sales positions may be eligible to participate in TransUnion's annual bonus plan. Certain positions may be also eligible for long-term incentives and other payments based on applicable company guidance and plan documents.
