Who we're looking for

Toyota's One Tech SCaFT Department is seeking two experienced Technical Product Managers to drive technical product strategy and innovation. This role combines deep technical expertise with strategic product leadership to shape complex technical solutions that deliver business value across our enterprise platforms.

The Technical Product Manager will serve as the bridge between technical and business stakeholders, providing expert guidance on technical feasibility, architecture decisions, and product implementation strategies. Reporting to the Sr. Product Engineer, this role will be crucial in driving technical excellence across our product portfolio.

What you'll be doing

Technical Leadership & Strategy

  • Drive technical product vision and architecture strategy across multiple product lines.
  • Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies, platforms, and technical approaches.
  • Lead technical discovery and feasibility assessments for complex product initiatives.
  • Guide development teams on technical implementation strategies and best practices.
  • Collaborate with enterprise architects to ensure alignment with technical standards.

Product Development & Architecture

  • Transform complex business requirements into detailed technical specifications.
  • Create and maintain technical product roadmaps aligned with enterprise architecture.
  • Lead technical discovery sessions and architecture discussions with development teams.
  • Define API strategies, integration patterns, and technical standards.
  • Guide teams on technical debt management and system optimization strategies.

Stakeholder Management & Communication

  • Translate complex technical concepts into business value for executive stakeholders.
  • Partner with engineering leads to ensure optimal technical implementation.
  • Lead technical review sessions with architecture and security teams.
  • Present technical strategies and roadmaps to senior leadership.
  • Facilitate communication between business stakeholders and technical teams.

Technical Excellence & Innovation

  • Establish best practices for technical product management across teams.
  • Drive innovation through proof-of-concepts and technical pilot programs.
  • Define technical success metrics and performance indicators.
  • Lead technical risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
  • Guide teams on API design, microservices architecture, and cloud strategies.

What you bring

Technical Expertise

  • 10+ years of experience in technical roles, with at least 5 years in technical product management.
  • Deep understanding of software architecture patterns and best practices.
  • Strong expertise in modern development frameworks and cloud technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with API design, microservices, and distributed systems.
  • Proficiency in data modeling and database architecture.

Technical Skills

  • Experience with modern development tools and practices (e.g., React, Node.js, REST APIs).
  • Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Knowledge of security principles and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies.

Leadership & Communication

  • Proven ability to lead technical discussions and architecture reviews.
  • Excellence in translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
  • Strong influence and negotiation skills with technical teams.
  • Experience mentoring product managers on technical aspects.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field; OR commensurate experience.
  • Continuous learning mindset with recent technical certifications.

Added bonus if you have

  • Technical certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Agile/Scrum certifications beneficial (e.g., CSPO, SAFe).
  • Experience with large-scale system modernization initiatives.
  • Background in automotive or manufacturing technology.
  • Knowledge of ML/AI implementation strategies.
  • Track record of successful technical transformation projects.
