Who we're looking for
Toyota's Electronic Systems 2 Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Senior Engineer.
The primary responsibility of this role is to lead the design and application of electrical components across multiple vehicle and mobility platforms including packaging ECU's & sensors, routing of wire harness, and development of related components to ensure quality, performance, cost, and timing requirements are met for each electronics system.

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, the person in this role will support the Electronic Systems 2 department's objective to lead the design and application of electrical components across multiple vehicle and mobility platforms.
What you'll be doing
- Lead collaboration with related stakeholders (internal and external) in cross-functional teams to design packaging structure, prepare drawings, plan and manage schedule for complex engineering problems.
- Manage and lead multiple part developments to meet targets for cost, mass, performance and schedule with high quality, efficiency, and optimization mindset from project start through start of production.
- Mentor and lead other engineers & contract engineers in design related activities.
- Excellent, clear and frequent communication with internal and external stakeholders (management team, project leaders, manufacturing, suppliers, other design department, TMC Japan, etc.).
- Develop design data in 3D and create 2D drawings using Catia V5 and CR5000. Propose, create and standardize efficiency tools and templates.
- Use TBP process to break down problems, propose solutions, and contribute to obeya meetings with other commodity engineers, WH supplier engineers, and vehicle assembly members. Coach others in applying TBP thinking.
What you bring
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering discipline, (Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering Degree will be considered).
- 6 or more years of vehicle development experience including at least 1 major.
- 4 or more years of demonstrated experience working with suppliers.
- Demonstrated advanced understanding of vehicle development process.
- Demonstrated advanced understanding of vehicle manufacturing process
- Proficient in Catia for 3D data and drawing preparation
- Experience supporting a production vehicle trial.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
What you may bring
- M.S. or higher in Engineering discipline.
- Experience with Toyota in all stages of Vehicle development; AS, K4, SE, GENZU, CV, 1A, MPT, QCS. (Full Model change or Major-Minor model change).
- Proficient in leading variable workforce and/or Design-In members
- Demonstrated understanding of wire harness development and/or manufacturing process.
- Experience negotiating with CALTY and Cross-Functional departments.
- Experience in design of electrical systems/parts, including wire harness routing, wire spec. issuance using CR5000.
- Experience in design of other ADAS systems such as Panoramic View Monitor, Sonar, and Blind Spot Monitor, or Headlamp ECU. --> 1+ examples
- TBP Panel Completed.
- Japanese language capability
