Toyota's Bodyweld Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Bodyweld Engineer.
The primary responsibility of this role is to Support Production Operations in the Bodyweld Shop as an Engineer
Reporting to the Bodyweld Engineering Manager, the person in this role will support the Bodyweld Department's Hoshin as related to the engineering role.
This position is based in San Antonio, TX The selected candidate will be expected to reside within commutable distance of this location.
What you'll be doing
- Management of assigned production area tooling, equipment automation and processes by providing engineering support for efficiency improvements related to safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction efforts.
- Developing a strong working relationship with the various Weld groups at all levels to ensure great communication skills and understanding of both floor side and plant issues.
- Management of improvement projects ranging from large capital investment to smaller projects such as minor Kaizen or process improvement implementations.
- Responsible for coordinating all aspects of projects including budget justification, scheduling, installation and confirmation and final handover to Production.
- Support Maintenance to solve weld quality issues.
- Facilitate problem solving activities, conduct trial and track results and report status.
- Responsible for providing engineering support for efficiency improvements related to safety, quality, cost, and productivity.
- Supporting production and suppliers to solve routine and technical problems.
- Developing a strong working relationship with the Quality and Production Team at all levels to ensure great communication and understanding of both floor side and plant issues.
- Resolving field issues and developing countermeasures.
- For new model development - Similar to above with suppliers and production pilot teams.
What you bring
- 6 months or more of experience coordinating projects with other shops and understanding of Automotive Manufacturing
- 1 year minimum of experience in Mass production
- 1 year minimum of welding technology experience such as: SB Roller Hemming, Aluminum spot welding and Self piercing riveting
- Intermediate level usage of Microsoft Applications including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- 1 year minimum of Body Weld automation systems experience
- This position requires driving. A motor vehicle record that's acceptable by company standards is required for this position
Added bonus if you have
- 1 year of Shell Body dimensional quality experience
- Prior Bodyweld Co-op or Contractor
- 1 year of Project Management experience from scope of work, planning, budgeting to SOP
- Understanding of Toyota concepts, including the Toyota Production System and Kaizen preferred
