The commerce industry has seen tremendous growth in recent years and has become a hotly contested space amongst leading Internet companies, and its future growth cannot be underestimated. We aim to bring discovery, inspiration, and joy back to shopping by making TikTok the commerce channel of choice for merchants, creators, and partners. For years, TikTok has played a central role in the shopping journey with #TikTokMadeMeBuyIt. Consumables is one of the most influential & fastest-growing categories at TikTok Shop, and we are looking for an ambitious and pragmatic Business Development Leader to step-change the pace of brand & seller acquisition to accelerate Category growth.
About the Role
The Business Development Lead - Consumables is responsible for leading a team of Business Development talents to craft a highly productive pipeline, managing outreach volume & yield, onboarding high-potential brands & sellers, to help us build a credible, differentiated, and trend-driven Consumables business. You will work closely with a team of category managers, creator specialists, technical and non-technical cross-functional partners to pitch, educate, and onboard Consumable sellers onto TikTok Shop.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Category leadership to identify and prioritize the highest-potential Consumables sellers to join TikTok Shop, and lead the business development process end to end
- Build a business development engine, process, measurement, and best practices to deliver high volume seller acquisition for the business
- Generate, curate, and continually advance a pipeline of qualified prospects based on opportunity size, readiness for platform, creators, and customers, and ability to execute content commerce, and deliver on business development goals to grow the category
- Deeply understand the TikTok category space and target brands, and conceptualize effective pitch materials and processes to deliver the right outcomes with brands
- Partner with internal cross-functional teams to help brands navigate onboarding & integration, and optimize the process so that your business development pipeline progresses at speed, and delivers growth for the sellers
- Develop reporting, analysis, and measurement that monitors and optimizes seller onboarding.
- Collaborate and partner with internal cross-functional teams to coordinate resources and drive seller acquisition results
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience in business development, vendor acquisition, or sales for retailer, marketplace, or ecommerce platform
- 5+ years experience working with consumables sellers
- 3+ years experience leading teams
- Experience engaging with and influencing executive leadership in B2B settings and negotiating the right business development outcomes
- Experience managing a scalable process to meet monthly and quarterly OKRs, and the analytical and problem-solving ability to improve the process to support business growth

Job Information
[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $136800 - $273600 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
