We are seeking a talented Backend Software Engineer to join our Live CDN team at TikTok. As a Backend Software Development Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining our Live CDN platform, which powers live streaming services for millions of users worldwide. You will also be responsible for designing and implementing the architecture for the platform, with a focus on automating and simplifying configuration functionality to improve reliability, usability, and flexibility.

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Senior Software Engineer to join our team. You'll play a crucial role in optimizing the core performance of live streaming transmission. This position demands a blend of technical expertise in live streaming technologies and collaborative skills to work effectively across various functional teams.

Responsibilities:
- Enhance Live Streaming Gateway: Enhance the live streaming gateway to support various streaming protocols and ensure efficient audit capabilities. Address and resolve issues in the existing live streaming gateway, focusing on performance improvements and error resolution.

- Optimization of Core Live Streaming Metrics: Work closely with different teams to analyze and optimize key performance metrics of live streaming systems. Identify system issues and develop effective optimization strategies to enhance user experience.

- Test Infrastructure and Quality Assurance: Develop and oversee test pipelines, focusing on performance, integration, and unit testing to ensure system robustness and deployment readiness. Establish and maintain a testing environment parallel to production for effective debugging and pre-deployment feature testing.

- Collaborative Quality Enhancement: Collaborate with various teams to identify and resolve technical quality issues, ensuring high standards in software performance and reliability. Play a key role in cross-functional teams to drive software quality improvements, contributing to both the development and operational aspects of projects.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Be familiar with at least one programming language(c / C++ / Java / Python / go etc)
- Strong troubleshooting skills and experience in system optimization.
- Experience with CDN, Multimedia, Live Streaming and WebRTC.
- Operational experience running a production 24x7 infrastructure at scale.

Job Information

[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $136800 - $280000 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.

Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
