The Team
This role is part of the wider Global Privacy & Regulatory Affairs team and sits in the Legal department. This is an opportunity to further develop your career in a company that enjoys hyper growth on a truly global scale and advises on cutting edge products and features at the intersection of privacy and technology. This individual will primarily support TikTok's DMA Compliance Officer in executing their role. This individual will work closely with a Compliance Program Manager and other members of the company's cross functional DMA working group. They will also collaborate with the Office of the Data Protection Officer ("ODPO") in advising on areas of DMA compliance that interplay with European data protection laws.

The Role
We are looking for a Compliance Officer to join Bytedance's Head of DMA Compliance Office. The function is part of the wider Global Privacy & Regulatory Affairs department. This role will be located in Brussels, Paris or Dublin.

Core Responsibilities
You will support the DMA Head Compliance Officer with the following activities:
- Organise, monitor, and supervise the measures and activities of TikTok's compliance programme that aim to ensure compliance with the Digital Markets Act ("DMA").
- Prepare reports and regular updates for the management body regarding the status of compliance with the DMA.
- Promote a robust internal compliance culture by contributing to ongoing efforts in designing, implementing, and presenting a wide range of compliance and risk training and awareness initiatives.
- Attend meetings with the European Commission and other regulatory bodies as appropriate.
- Contribute to the maintenance of the overarching compliance framework that underpins DMA compliance alongside with relevant business functions.
- Provide strategic advice to the business on compliance and risk-mitigations in the context of new TikTok products, features and policies.
- Perform periodic risk assessments to understand risks associated with DMA compliance.
- Develop and contribute to policies and procedures which relate to the DMA.
- Proactively collaborate with legal and business teams spread across time zones in multiple locations.
- Drive and coordinate large cross-functional projects relating to compliance matters balancing priorities and needs of multiple stakeholders.
- Participate in compliance audits to identify potential risks and areas for improvement.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
- Strong risk and compliance experience, i.e. experience in a legal, audit, consulting or risk management role.
- 4+ years of experience of working in a highly regulated industry, preferably technology.
- In-depth knowledge of compliance and risk issues with respect to digital platforms, including an excellent understanding of the Digital Markets Act. - Knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to compliance.
- Experience advising on compliance risk assessments and mitigations across digital products and new technologies.
- Ability to assess legal, practical, and business risks in a fast-paced environment and provide sound and practical advice under tight deadlines.
- Highly organised, self-motivated person with excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and credibly. Operate with a high degree of integrity.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills including the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team and the ability to interact effectively with people at all levels of the organisation. Strong problem solving and analytical skills. Ability to analyse, build and present reports to senior leadership.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working directly with external regulators.
- Experience working with, or advising, multinational corporations.
- Experience conducting gap assessments; leveraging accountability frameworks and recommending compliance and risk related KPI's.
- Experience building and delivering reports to senior leadership.
- Experience engaging with cross-functional business stakeholders to understand business processes, data flows, controls, and business needs.
- Good working knowledge of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
- High degree of business acumen.
- Prior experience managing a team.
- Relevant compliance qualifications.
- Project management and consulting skills.
