Responsibilities
The Office of the Data Protection Officer ("ODPO") is based in Dublin and London. The function is part of the wider Global Privacy & Regulatory Affairs department. Responsibilities
- The overarching role is to support the execution of the tasks of a Data Protection Officer as mandated by the GDPR.
- Lead compliance monitoring initiatives to identify potential risks and areas for improvement.
- Support regulatory engagement including data subject complaints to regulatory authorities.

- Advise on compliance and accountability efforts such as data protection impact assessments, records of processing activities and control frameworks relating to data protection matters including mitigations across digital products and new technologies.
- Advise on incident management and best practice under GDPR and NIS2.
- Advise and contribute to the development and maintenance of key data protection policies and procedural documents.
- Analyse, build and present reports to senior leadership including committee and board reporting.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Deep experience in a compliance, legal, audit and/or risk management role relating to data protection, including preferably experience working for a Data Protection Officer or as part of a Data Protection Officer team.
- Proven ability to assess legal, practical, and business risks in a fast-paced environment and provide sound and practical advice under tight deadlines, including the ability to draft concise, clear documentation that is free of legal-ese.
- Excellent organisational skills including the ability to independently review and streamline compliance related processes to enhance efficiency.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills including the ability to work well and collaborate with stakeholders across Legal, Internal Audit, Trust & Safety, Engineering, Product, Ecommerce, HR and Security.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a highly regulated industry (which may be in another regulated sector such as financial services)
- Subject matter expertise in privacy and data protection, with knowledge of content risk & online safety, AI, competition, regulatory, controls and the digital regulation landscape.
- Deep understanding of complex / innovative technologies and their relevant compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Experience embedding, working in and championing the 'second line of defense' framework.
- Experience conducting gap assessments; leveraging accountability frameworks and recommending compliance and risk related KPI's.
- Experience engaging with cross-functional business stakeholders to understand business processes, data flows, controls, and business needs.
