About the Team:
The Global Privacy & Regulatory Affairs legal team manages and oversees privacy and regulatory matters and initiatives pertaining to Bytedance's global operations. The team works cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders around the world. You will work in a fast-paced, challenging, and rewarding environment where your analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills will play an impactful role in tackling some of the most complex, interesting, and cutting-edge issues at the intersection of privacy and technology. We are seeking highly motivated professionals to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Advise product, research, and marketing teams on legal and ethical best practices for conducting user surveys and satisfaction programs, including compliance with privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, COPPA), data security regulations, and relevant industry standards.

- Review and approve user survey instruments, ensuring clarity, objectivity, and compliance with applicable legal and ethical guidelines.
- Develop and maintain internal policies and guidelines related to user surveys, data collection, and feedback analysis.
- Develop and deliver trainings to internal teams on the legal and ethical considerations related to user surveys.
- Help build and iterate on a robust AI governance framework to comply with enacted laws and harmonize TikTok's practices with industry best practices, standards, and global governance models.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- J.D. Degree from an ABA accredited law school (or foreign equivalent) with membership in good standing in a US state bar.
- Significant in-house or law firm experience advising on data privacy, data protection, and the legal and regulatory aspects of research and/or product development.
- Enjoys being challenged, is adaptable, and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Strong writing, presentation, and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
- Ability to make risk-based decisions and develop innovative and business-focused solutions to emerging challenges. - Enthusiasm for designing new workflows and processes and performing ongoing optimization.
- Flexibility to work with colleagues, clients, and other stakeholders in time zones other than where the position is based.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong working knowledge of global privacy and data security laws, including those outside of the United States.
- Experience advising on data collection issues specifically related to Big Tech.
- Experience with policy development.
- Experience with understanding innovative technology and the technology product development process.
