Team Intro
The Risk & Response Team for TikTok USDS is a multi-disciplinary team that handles risk detection, prevention, and handling in the United States.
As a member of the USDS Law Enforcement Outreach Team, you will be responsible for cultivating and nurturing strategic relationships with law enforcement authorities, government agencies focusing on online safety, and industry coalitions in the United States. Your primary focus will be on educating law enforcement agencies about TikTok's data disclosure policies and law enforcement guidelines.

The role may be exposed to harmful content as part of their core day-to-day functions, as well as in project work; in response to escalation requests; or by chance. Some content viewed my violate our community guidelines which include but are not limited to bullying; hate speech; child abuse; sexual assault; torture; bestiality; self-harm; suicide; and murder.

This position will be full-time and will be based in our Nashville, TN or San Jose, CA locations and would entail frequent travel within the United States.

In order to enhance collaboration and cross-functional partnerships, among other things, at this time, our organization follows a hybrid work schedule that requires employees to work in the office 3 days a week, or as directed by their manager/department. We regularly review our hybrid work model, and the specific requirements may change at any time.

Responsibilities
- Cultivate relationships with US law enforcement, security, and government authorities, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Educate law enforcement on TIkTok policies, focusing on user privacy and legal data request responses
- Work closely with legal, public policy, and other internal teams in engagements with law enforcement, regulators, and legislators on various online safety topics, such as child protection and counter-terrorism.
- Work with internal investigations teams and Law Enforcement Response Team to support proactive referrals to law enforcement authorities.
- Identify risks and issues across the business related to law enforcement engagement. Develop proactive programs and processes to address them. Establish regular reporting mechanisms to keep stakeholders informed on progress, findings, and recommendations.
- Create and articulate written and verbal responses to inquiries from law enforcement, government agencies, and internal teams regarding policy, process, and operations.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:
- Demonstrated 5 years of experience in at least one of the following areas: 1) US Law Enforcement or Intelligence Agencies 2) Law Enforcement Outreach Programs in private industry 3) US Government Relations, or a combination of these domains
- Demonstrated ability to foster robust relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, particularly government officials, public relations, communications, government relations, and operations teams.
- Exceptional presentation experience before large audiences, especially external parties or at conferences.
- Proficient in managing multiple projects of moderate-to-high complexity and scope across multiple topics while consistently meeting deadlines. Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally, ensuring coordination and alignment on objectives and key results.
- Working experience with sensitive content issues, including but not limited to graphic images, videos and writings, offensive or derogatory language, child safety, and other potentially objectionable material

Preferred qualifications:
- Experience working in the tech or entertainment industry
- Technical experience related to cybercrime and online investigations, including experience working in child safety and counter-terrorism
- Experience with US privacy laws, including but not limited to the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), and other pertinent privacy regulations and industry guidelines crucial for Internet companies
- Ability to work in a high tempo environment, adapt, respond to day-to-day challenges of the role.
- Resilience and commitment to self-care to manage the emotional demands of the role.

Job Information

[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $96000 - $217022 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.

Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
