The Global Product & RD team is building up core TikTok products to ensure TikTok continues a healthy growth, deliver the best product experience to all of our users, build the most attractive features to help users enjoy their time on TikTok, earn trust in privacy protection, and more.
The Global Product team is growing exponentially. The business lines are ranging from Monetization Technology, Data, Machine Learning, System, Infrastructure, AR Effects, Security Technology and more.

About the team
TikTok UX team is responsible for the product design of the core TikTok app. Our key vertical ownership areas include Product Infrastructure, Social, Creation, Photo-Text and Design Systems. Providing professional design methods and practices, the team helps improve user experience and working efficiency of these products and areas.

Responsibilities
As the leader of the Effect House design team, you will:
- Lead tool design: Lead the design of a powerful AR tool for designers to create, publish, and share high-quality augmented effects for TikTok
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with product managers, researchers, content designers, and engineers to make high-level strategic decisions and execute impactful product experiences
- Business and User Understanding: Lead design from initial concept to implementation, balancing holistic and user-centric perspectives
- Design Leadership: Oversee design quality, establish norms and standards, and ensure efficient project completion with superior user experience
- Mentorship and Team Development: Act as a mentor, oversee talent acquisition and development, provide constructive feedback, and facilitate both project improvement and career growth
- Project Management: Lead large-scale projects from inception to completion, managing uncertainty and ensuring quality experiences
- Culture and Recruitment: Cultivate a workplace culture that reflects TikTok's values, recruit exceptional talent, and inspire creativity and joy in a global team

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of product design experience for web or tools, including a minimum of 2 years in a management capacity
- Experience leading design teams to work on large scale, complex, challenging projects
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, enabling successful collaboration with teams across the organization
- Commit to high-quality team output with keen attention to detail. Being able to continuously seek and contribute new impacts to business. - Proficiency in A/B testing and data-informed design methodologies
- Entrepreneurial, adaptable to rapid changes and less-than-ideal situations
- Open-minded, self-motivated, receptive to feedback, and patient

Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of front-end programming
- Enthusiastic about TikTok and its community

Job Information

[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $172000 - $337500 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.

Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
