Team Intro
The USDS Privacy and Integrated Security team is responsible for overseeing and governing all activities of privacy impacts to TikTok USDS' operations. We address complex and cutting-edge challenges, aiming to build the world's most trusted social media platform. We partner with TikTok global legal, R&D, Privacy and Data Protection Office, and security organizations in advancing our privacy practices. We oversee, govern and support the integration and optimization of operational privacy capabilities including data inventory, data classification, data retention/deletion, and incident response, etc., to ensure scalable and compliant privacy and data protection practices.

In order to enhance collaboration and cross-functional partnerships, among other things, at this time, our organization follows a hybrid work schedule that requires employees to work in the office 3 days a week, or as directed by their manager/department. We regularly review our hybrid work model, and the specific requirements may change at any time.

Responsibilities
The Privacy Integration Specialist will play a critical role in the oversight & governance of privacy practices at USDS, ensuring alignment & integration with the global privacy compliance framework and capabilities. This role requires a strategic thinker with the ability to drive actionable privacy practices that comply with TikTok policies. The role will work cross-functionally with global privacy, legal, R&D, and USDS teams to ensure seamless integration of privacy policies, processes, & controls into the privacy operational arms.

This role will advance privacy practices at USDS & TikTok. The ideal candidate has a strong background in privacy engineering, privacy compliance, a deep understanding of security & privacy control & safeguards mechanisms at the technical layers, & a passion for privacy considerations from an end-user perspective. Reports to the Head of Privacy & Integrated Security. The reporting structure may evolve.

- Identify the need for and lead the integration of global privacy control framework into USDS privacy operations. Ensure privacy controls, policies, and procedures align with global privacy policies and capability strategies.
- Work closely with global legal, R&D, and USDS teams to ensure that the global privacy strategy is effectively implemented in USDS. Monitor the execution of privacy initiatives across global teams, identifying opportunities for improvement at USDS and ensuring consistency and alignment with global capabilities.
- Conduct privacy compliance assessment. Identify gaps in the privacy objectives implemented at USDS. Drive and support efforts to ensure that privacy safeguards are effective and aligned with TikTok standards.
- Work with global teams to help implement, update, and formalize policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), etc. documents for privacy compliance across USDS operational arms.
- Conduct and support privacy risk assessments, identifying gaps or potential risks in compliance, and working with the risk lead to address and mitigate them. Provide actionable recommendations to improve privacy practices and operations.
- Advocate for and promote privacy best practices across USDS. Provide guidance and support to USDS privacy operation teams on privacy policies, compliance processes, and governance frameworks.
- Develop and track privacy performance metrics and ensure timely reporting to both USDS leadership and global leadership. Provide updates on the effectiveness of privacy controls, compliance status, and privacy risks.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field. Candidates with significant relevant experience in security, privacy and data protection fields will also be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
- 4+ years of experience working closely with engineering teams to resolve issues or build new products.
- 3+ years of relevant privacy experience, such as in risk management, product compliance management, and/or privacy compliance. Knowledge of global and US privacy regulations, such as GDPR, COPPA, CCPA, etc.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, teamwork and collaboration skills in leading or contributing to multi-functional teams.
- Must be able to adapt to the people, process and technology complexities in a large enterprise.

Preferred Qualifications
- Privacy and security engineering background
- Experience working with globally distributed teams
- Cybersecurity, information security, or privacy engineering experience
- Practical experience involving operationalizing privacy and security solutions to identified issues

Job Information

[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $98800 - $181000 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.

Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others.
