The Global Music Business Development team drives negotiations and fosters relationships with record labels and music publishers. We are tasked with creating and implementing the TikTok music strategy. The team helps drive growth and awareness of TikTok and the music and artists that thrive therein. The Music Publishing Licensing Lead will facilitate the development and licensing of new music-related products and features across TikTok's suite of AI-powered mobile apps including TikTok, CapCut, and more.

Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Music Product Development review team to assess and provide guidance related to music use and copyright considerations across the ByteDance suite of products.
- Apply nuanced understanding of worldwide music copyright regulations and rights licensing structures to product development assessments, aligning recommendations and assessments with recorded music and music product counsel counterparts.
- Serve as intermediary between product teams and the Music Publishing Licensing team in order to coordinate licensing strategy, product roadmaps, and day-to-day licensing progress.
- Represent the Music Publishing Licensing team in both internal and external discussions related to product development, feature development, and licensing needs.
- Monitor and advise on revisions and updates to licensing negotiations in order to align with current feature and product and launch requirements.
- Align cross-functional strategies across Global Music Business Development, Product, Legal and other teams to enable and support new music-related product development.
- Develop & maintain high-quality working relationships with music publishing rightsholders and work closely with the music publishing community to obtain feedback and achieve collaboration on music-related product and feature advancement.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
- 3+ years' experience in music or related digital content industry, with an emphasis on music publishing licensing, product development, and business strategy.
- Demonstrable experience working with product teams either in an advisement or product management capacity, preferably related to music and copyright matters.
- Sophisticated understanding of and experience with international music publishing licensing and rights structures.
- Familiarity with complex IP considerations around UGC vis-a-vis technology platforms.
- Proactive team player and effective influencer.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree plus MBA or equivalent business qualification strongly preferred, or relevant industry experience
- Strong Excel, PowerPoint and presentation design skills including analytics and financial modeling skills a plus

[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $112480 - $263340 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
