About the Team:
The music business development team drives negotiations and fosters relationships with record labels and music publishers. We are tasked with creating and implementing the TikTok music strategy. The team helps drive growth and awareness of TikTok and the music and artists that thrive therein. The Music Publishing Licensing and Partnerships will facilitate the development and licensing of new music-related products and features across TikTok's suite of apps including TikTok, CapCut, TikTok Music and others.
Responsibilities:
- Negotiate music content licenses with music labels, music publishers and PROs/CMOs in SEA (and APAC region where necessary).
- Develop & maintain quality working relationships with music rightsholders and contribute to ongoing partner management strategy.
- Align cross functional strategies across Music Business Development Label and Publishing, Product, Legal and other teams to enable and support new music-related product development.
- Represent Music Licensing and Partnerships BD team in internal and external discussions related to product development and licensing roadmap.
- Understand product goals and anticipate music licensing and copyright-related requirements.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Proficient in English
- Minimum 5 years of experience in music or related digital content industry, with an emphasis on music publishing licensing for digital services, including experience in copyright, licensing, business development, product development or business analysis
- Established relationships with key stakeholders across the region
- Strong Excel, PowerPoint and presentation design skills including analytics and financial modelling skills a plus
- Proactive team player and effective influencer
- Degree plus MBA or equivalent business qualification strongly preferred, or relevant industry experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with complex IP considerations around UGC
- Sophisticated understanding of and experience with international music publishing licensing and rights structures
- Demonstrable experience creating and negotiating licensing structures, preferably for music streaming services and/or user generated content platforms
