The mission of TikTok's Global Security Organization is to build and earn trust by reducing risk and securing our businesses and products. Also known as "GSO", this team is the foundation of our efforts to keep TikTok safe, secure, and operating at scale for over 1 billion people around the world. We work to ensure that the TikTok platform is safe and secure, that our users' experience and their data remains safe from external or internal threats, and that we comply with global regulations wherever TikTok operates.

TikTok operates in an increasingly complex global landscape, characterized by high-stakes litigation, intricate regulatory environments, and unprecedented data volumes. We require a transformative leader who can navigate sophisticated legal challenges while driving technological innovation in forensic investigations and electronic discovery.
The Global Head of Information Governance will be a strategic executive who will lead TikTok's comprehensive information governance strategy, overseeing forensic investigations, e-discovery operations and data governance frameworks. They will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing a world-class forensic and electronic discovery function that operates with exceptional efficiency, technological sophistication, and legal defensibility. They will also bridge legal, compliance, IT Security and risk management to safeguard company assets while maximizing the strategic value of our information.
Forensics, Investigations and E-Discovery
- Develop and execute a comprehensive global strategy for forensic investigations and e-discovery that aligns with corporate legal risk management objectives
- Create a forward-looking roadmap integrating cutting-edge AI, machine learning, and automation technologies into forensic and discovery workflows.
- Direct digital forensic investigations in response to security incidents, potential misconduct, and litigation matters
- Establish forensically sound procedures for evidence collection, preservation, and analysis
- Collaborate with legal counsel and HR on investigative strategies and findings
- Manage relationships with internal and external e-discovery stakeholders and legal teams
Data Governance
- Design data governance frameworks that ensure legal compliance, data privacy, and robust evidence preservation across complex international jurisdictions
- Create and implement enterprise-wide data governance policies, standards, and procedures
- Establish data classification frameworks, retention schedules, and access controls
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and privacy laws
- Align governance initiatives with business objectives
Leadership & Strategy
- Report directly to the Head of Global Security on governance matters, providing regular risk assessments
- Build and manage cross-functional teams across legal, IT, security, and compliance
- Develop metrics to demonstrate governance program effectiveness and ROI
- Advocate for information governance priorities in executive decision-making
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Proven track record of implementing enterprise-scale technological solutions in legal contexts
- Demonstrated success in AI and automation integration within complex legal environments
- Strategic technological vision with practical implementation skills
- Exceptional communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to operate effectively under extreme pressure and tight resource constraints
- Innovative problem-solving approach with a focus on continuous improvement
- Comprehensive knowledge of data privacy regulations and compliance frameworks
- Strong background in information security concepts and technologies
- Experience with insider threat monitoring tools and behavioral analytics
- Exceptional communication skills with ability to translate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders
- Strategic vision with practical implementation capabilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Law, Computer Science, Forensic Technology, or related field and/or certifications in digital forensics, legal technology, or related fields
Job Information
[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $228800 - $441600 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
