This position is with TikTok's Server Arch Team. The team is responsible for ensuring that the services provided by TikTok are highly reliable with low-latency. Reliability assurance is complex and systematic for any massive application system and the team focuses on optimizing the application architecture from end to end; driven by data analysis, with automatic and intelligent failure recovery.
Seeking a leader to lead our Generalized Site Reliability Engineering (Gen-SRE) team within TikTok's Server Architecture Department. This pivotal role is based in Singapore and oversees a global team across Singapore, China, and the United States. The Director will be instrumental in ensuring the stability, compliance, and efficiency of TikTok's backend services.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Service Stability and Operations:
- Oversee the reliability and performance of TikTok's backend services.
- Lead incident management and response strategies to minimize downtime and service disruptions.
- Develop and implement operational best practices to maintain high service availability.
2. Management of Embedded SRE Team:
- Supervise and coordinate embedded SRE teams responsible for the compliant operation of backend services.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and internal policies across all operational activities.
3. Developer Efficiency Enhancement:
- Develop and monitor metrics to assess developer productivity and efficiency.
- Design and implement tools and processes aimed at improving developer workflows and reducing bottlenecks.
4. Innovation in Engineering Efficiency:
- Lead a dedicated sub-team focused on leveraging Large Language Models (LLM) and agent-based techniques to enhance engineering processes.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and methodologies to drive continuous improvement.
5. Cultivation of a Global Team Culture:
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment that transcends geographical boundaries.
- Promote knowledge sharing and unified objectives among team members across different regions.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualification:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Ph.D. is a plus.
- Extensive experience in Site Reliability Engineering, with a proven track record in managing large-scale, distributed systems.
- Demonstrated expertise in incident management, operational compliance, and service monitoring.
- Strong background in developer productivity tools and methodologies.
- Familiarity with Large Language Models and their application in engineering contexts.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a talent for building cohesive team cultures.
