Team Intro
Within USDS, our eDiscovery team plays a critical role in supporting TikTok's Global Legal Team as well as Privacy & Security efforts by providing expertise in litigation discovery processes such as legal holds, preservation, collection, processing, review workflows, compliance management systems development, and cross-functional collaboration.

We are seeking a eDiscovery Lead who will spearhead operational excellence within TikTok's eDiscovery program by defining strategy; implementing scalable workflows; managing stakeholder relationships across Legal, IT administrators, Privacy teams, and external counsel; while ensuring compliance with litigation requirements globally.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership:
- Define vision and strategy for TikTok's eDiscovery program in alignment with Global Legal Team goals.
- Drive continuous improvement by evaluating emerging technologies (e.g., eDiscovery software/platforms) to enhance efficiency.
- Develop compliant policies/procedures for legal holds management, preservation workflows, data discovery/analysis methodologies.
- Team Oversight & Project Management:
- Act as primary point of contact for large-scale litigation matters requiring cross-functional coordination between Legal Teams (Global & US), Forensics experts (Digital/IT), IT system administrators/developers.
- Lead multiple complex projects simultaneously with strict adherence to deadlines under high-pressure environments.
- Mentor junior analysts or specialists within the eDiscovery team-ensuring skill development while promoting collaboration.
- Litigation Support Activities:
- Oversee execution of legal hold notifications across global repositories (including proprietary platforms).
- Manage end-to-end workflows for preserving relevant datasets securely following chain-of-custody principles required for admissibility in court proceedings.
- Direct data processing/culling stages prior to document reviews conducted either internally or via external counsel partnerships.
- Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication:
- Partner closely with internal stakeholders including IT teams (systems admins/developers), Privacy/Security personnel regarding repository designs ensuring audit-ready functionality aligned with compliance laws worldwide such as GDPR/CLOUD Act standards beyond domestic norms.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems/Technology Management/Law preferred; equivalent experience acceptable.
- 5+ years' experience working specifically within eDiscovery projects-preferably leading multi-disciplinary initiatives at scale involving cloud-based repositories/tools alongside typical on-prem setups where appropriate
Preferred Qualifications:
- Deep understanding of electronic discovery reference model frameworks guiding defensible protocol definition steps from early-stage preservation phases onward up through final attorney-review filtering delivery endpoints seamlessly integrated back-office API-driven automations wherever feasible.
Job Information
[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $112860 - $236410 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
