About the role
We are looking for a passionate, hands-on Data Scientist Manager/Brand Safety Lead to tackle a global challenge in social media. In this role, you'll use data-driven insights to enhance user safety and content integrity, ensuring brand advertising appears in safe contexts. You will lead a team of data scientists in analyzing complex datasets and building models to protect brands from harmful content associations on TikTok.

Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of data scientists, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration
- Analyze large and complex datasets to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies related to user-generated content and behavior
- Design and implement predictive models to detect and mitigate risks associated with harmful content, misinformation, and policy violations
- Understand advertiser and creator engagement, build predictive modeling processes, and find stories based on signals of advertiser success or failure/churn
- Communicate findings and insights to stakeholders, presenting actionable recommendations based on data analysis
- Work closely with product, engineering, and policy teams to inform decision-making and improve trust and safety initiatives
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging threats in digital content, continuously refining models and strategies to enhance user brand safety

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree or higher in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in data science ML/AI, with (2+ years) focus on trust and safety, content moderation, or related areas in digital platforms
- 2+ years of experience leading or managing Data Science teams
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Strong experience with SQL and data manipulation tools, as well as data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to work with ambiguity and complexity.
- Experience delivering business strategy by collaborating closely with stakeholders, setting ambitious yet achievable goals, success metrics, and roadmap.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong leadership qualities with a collaborative mindset and the ability to motivate and inspire others.

Preferred qualifications:
-Experience with human-in-the-loop ML, active learning, and data labeling
-Strong communication skills, for example, demonstrated through documentation and presentations. Able to present findings to senior management to inform business decisions.

Job Information

[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $201000 - $395000 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
