About the Team
U.S. Data Security ("USDS") is a standalone department of TikTok in the U.S. This new security-first division was created to bring heightened focus and governance to our data protection policies and content assurance protocols to keep U.S. users safe. Our focus is on providing oversight and protection of the TikTok platform and user data in the U.S., so millions of Americans can continue turning to TikTok to learn something new, earn a living, express themselves creatively, or be entertained. The teams within USDS that deliver on this commitment daily span Trust & Safety, Security & Privacy, Engineering, User & Product Ops, Corporate Functions and more. As a member of the FUSE Intel program, you will work on the Criminal Intelligence team and support the work of Threat and safety, Ads and other teams by developing and managing intelligence leads about on and off-platform criminal activities.

In order to enhance collaboration and cross-functional partnerships, among other things, at this time, our organization follows a hybrid work schedule that requires employees to work in the office 3 days a week, or as directed by their manager/department. Responsibilities
- Utilize internal and external data sources to identify on-platform criminal activity. Understand and assess the tactics, techniques, and procedures of criminal groups in the US and globally. Research and monitor criminal activities and their relevance to TikTok's reputation, operational risk, and staff safety.
- Develop criminal activity leads and reports focusing on themes such as gangs and cartels activity, criminal activities around large-scale events (i.e. sporting events, political events).
- Conduct analytical briefings on criminal activities and groups/ individuals of interest for internal and external stakeholders.
- Use multiple-sources and research methods such as OSINT in analysis of current and emerging threats to produce concise reports and metrics relevant to Tik Tok platform and overall business operations.
- Develop an understanding of TikTok platform vulnerabilities toward criminal activity and alter on-platform research accordingly. Develop an understanding of criminal groups' presence on social media platforms and monitor TikTok for similar activity.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ years of investigative or intelligence experience.
- Ability to manage, analyse, and manipulate large data sets.
- Deep knowledge of the US and preferably global criminal landscape, including key organized crime groups, gangs, mafia structures, cartels, terrorist and other criminal groups.
- Experience conducting OSINT investigations and communicating to large audiences the findings.
- Excellent writing skills, ability to quickly summarize findings and present in simple language key findings and matters of core priority for TikTok to large audiences.
- Experience collaborating effectively with cross-functional entities across the company.
- Proven track record of managing, organizing, and executing short and long-term investigative projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of cyber cybercrimes, financial crimes, terrorism and other similar crimes is a plus.
- Understanding of deep/dark web research tools and data sources
- Experience with a variety of government or industry investigative and intelligence analytical tools is preferred.
- Experience with SQL is preferred.
This role requires the ability to work with and support systems designed to protect sensitive data and information. As such, this role will be subject to strict national security-related screening.
Job Information
[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $98800 - $175400 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
