Senior Infrastructure Analyst
The Infrastructure job installs, configures, and maintains IT systems software and hardware for multi-user server computers. Working independently under limited supervision, this job implements solutions for end user needs by ensuring the uptime, performance, resource availability, and security of computers are within established operational guidelines. This role uses their knowledge of computer languages and operations to find and fix problems in computer networks, such as network communications errors, storage problems, and malfunctioning server platforms.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Performs complex analysis during normal IT Infrastructure operation, including on networks, firewalls, servers, operating systems, applications and devices.

  • Acquires, installs, and upgrades computer components and software and planning for service outages and other problems.

  • Develops automation of routine tasks using scripting and writing basic computer programs to address more complex systems software configuration and enhancement.

  • Develops domain solutions and executes changes in line with the implementation plan.

  • Consults with senior domain administrators regarding the trouble shooting of day-to-day domain issues.

  • Configures multiple servers and associated routers to ensure their smooth and reliable operation.

  • Reviews documentation as it relates to domain configuration, routing, processes, and service records.

  • Creates current documentation of all equipment under operational control.

  • Coaches and mentors the work of lower level professionals.

    Description

    Maximum Experience: 5 to 9 years of Middleware/OBIEE support experience

    Position Summary:

    The GCST & Nuveen Middleware Support is expected to performs design and configure the middleware infrastructure and platforms. Provides coherent distributed middleware that connects software components and applications. Being a Middleware Support interacts with development team, Application Production Support Team and analyzes requirements to implement middleware architecture.

    Experience on working on Oracle Cloud will be an added advantage.

    Support knowledge of OBIEE, ODI, Hyperion, and Essbase will be an added advantage.

    Key Functions:

    • Support a 24 x 7 environment, providing on-call support as needed, with a high degree of responsiveness and sound trouble-shooting methodologies.
    • Architect/Engineer Middleware products for container management, security, deployment, web servers, app servers, caching 
    • Provide production & non-production middleware support for multiple business critical applications
    • Support WebLogic Server, Tomcat and related products in production.
    • Support over 20 middleware application in production.
    • Work with various business units, as well as with cross functional teams, to bring new middleware-based applications live
    • Write operating procedures, knowledge articles, answers to FAQs, and on-call reports
    • Open tickets and work with the vendor to troubleshoot product related issues and apply appropriate fix packs. Maintain middleware with appropriate patches.
    • Work with the help desk utilizing our ticketing system to provide proper support and escalation procedures for deployed applications.
    • Fine tune applications and servers for optimal performance.
    • Provide guidance on generating scripts in order to automate tasks.
    • Assist with the deployment of new middleware interfaces/applications
    • Work closely with managed service providers on day to day support
    • The Middleware Support is also responsible for deploying and supporting middleware applications using WebLogic or Tomcat. Must be able to work individually or in a team on various system projects related to UNIX, Linux, Windows and Application support.
    • Participates in monitoring and documenting supported applications, including middleware, web application solutions , enterprise email and instant messaging solutions, and enterprise directory services in compliance with service management policies and procedures.
    • Primary administrator and Middleware Infra point of contact for all Application Support Services change management functions, including back-end application support, configuration tuning and optimization, and scripting.
    • Respond to OBIEE/ODI/Hyperion/Essbase - production issues/emergencies during business hours and off hours according to agreed upon SLAs
    • Engage with and communicate to the appropriate stakeholder groups about production issues and maintenance
    • Perform root cause analysis and provide technical solutions to production related application  and batch job errors
    • Monitor routine and critical processes and workflows and proactively identify problem trends
    • Assist with application implementations and configurations as needed
    • Assist with documenting technical and business processes including application technical reference guides.


    Requirements (Education and Experience):

    • Middleware skills: Oracle WebLogic Server, Tomcat, Apache HTTP Server, Oracle HTTP Server, F5
    DB skills: Oracle.
    OS Knowledge: UNIX/Linux.

    • Bachelor’s Degree in IT or related field required.
    • Knowledge of programming/scripting
    • Work closely with developers, DBA and system administrations on any bug fix and enhancements
    • Experience in Unix and Linux platforms
    • Understanding of Oracle database management systems
    • Client focused and support orientated
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
    • Good knowledge and experience working with UNIX and basic shell scripts
    • Must be able to troubleshoot batch processing production issues
    • Understand basic Database / Job Scheduling Concepts
    • Good to have Experience in CA Autosys for automation needs.
    • Exposure to Production Support in any ETL and BI environment - OBIEE, Informatica, ODI etc.
    • Basic Understanding of Data Warehousing Design Concepts / Methodologies and ETL Concepts
