The Investment Portfolio Analyst executes the cash management strategy of TIAA bank’s AFS liquidity portfolio by contributing to treasury activities. Working under limited supervision, this job manages treasury projects and contributes to cash flow monitoring and reporting as well as financial transaction and status reporting.  This role will be a member of discretionary fixed income portfolio team.



Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Manage a subset of the fixed income discretionary portfolio – Analyze, trade, monitor, report, and present

  • Identify and recommend portfolio trades and securities positioning to investment portfolio manager

  • Evaluate new issues and secondary opportunities brought to market daily for potential investment in portfolio

Stay informed on economic data releases, market moves (rates, spreads), FOMC developments – to ensure team is continually informed

  • Read and compose regular market commentary (and ad hoc as needed) for Investment Portfolio Manager consumption and wider bank distribution

  • Build decks to inform various audiences on macro themes, market updates and portfolio trends

  • Enhance dashboards and other various reports to monitor invested asset classes in the current discretionary portfolio (to include USTs, MBS, Corp, Muni, and Structured Products)

  • Develop asset class monitors to optimize portfolio management

  • Pull information and document as needed to conduct required pre-purchase analysis of security acquisitions

  • Educational Requirements

    Required Qualifications:
    • 3+ years of portfolio management or fixed income trading experience or in a Treasury role

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 5+ years of portfolio management or fixed income trading experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Mathematics, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, or Business
    • CFA or willingness to achieve CFA designation
    • Advanced proficiency in Excel and programming experience utilizing VBA on Excel; advanced skills in building and manipulating Excel spreadsheets
    • Experience using Bloomberg, Yield Book, S&P Capital IQ and SNL
    • Prior work environment exposure to portfolio management concepts
    • Knowledge of macroeconomics, fixed income markets and bond valuations
    • Strong securities valuation analysis skills
    • Basic corporate or municipal credit analysis skills
    • General knowledge of treasury functions
    • General knowledge of statistics

    Potential Salary: $109,800.00 USD

    Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.  In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
