The Fraud Operations Analyst II participates in investigations regarding the control, detection and analysis of frauds to eliminate any eventual possibility of financial or image loss to the company. Under general supervision, this job participates in identifying potential fraud cases and taking appropriate action.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Participates in investigations of alleged violations of the corporation’s ethical standards and non-compliance with applicable laws, regulations and corporate policy issues.
- Conducts routine audits of corporate departments to ensure compliance and manages the process of correcting noncompliance and compliance gaps.
- Uses data analysis and software to identify potential cases of fraud such as embezzlement, counterfeiting, cloning, tumbling, piggy-backing, etc.

This position is for the Client Intelligence Unit (CIU) Analyst II – Bank Fraud Investigations. The CIU serves as the first line of defense against fraud and money laundering for the bank. This position is primarily responsible for external customer fraud triage, mitigation, investigation and recovery activities on known fraud or unusual activity. Investigations may range from simple to investigations that are more complex. In addition, the position will collaborate with AML, Internal Investigations, TIAA Bank and other business partners in investigating external customer fraud incidents.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Fraud investigation involves developing evidence and documenting information required for the appropriate resolution of allegations or other indications of a wide variety of suspected fraud.
This individual will resolve these instances via an application of professional investigative knowledge, skills, and expertise that includes:
- Assessing and evaluating incomplete and unverified initial information
- Planning and conduct of investigations
- Coordinating investigative work with management and others
- Developing sources of information
- Obtaining and analyzing potential evidence
- Applying applicable legal and professional standards
- Conducting and documenting interviews
- Documenting and reporting of investigations
- Participating in post-investigation activities such as providing testimony at hearings and trials
The CIU Analyst II will report to the CIU Bank Manager of Fraud Investigations. Additionally, this candidate will be required to work closely with the other CIU analysts.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in performing fraud investigations, from case inception through final resolution, of relevant financial crimes within the financial services industry (e.g. fraud or operational risk) OR three (3) years in sworn law enforcement related to financial crimes investigations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BS/BA Degree in Criminal Justice or related field
- Certified Financial Crimes Investigator (CFCI), Certified Computer Crimes Investigator (CCCI) or other related professional certification(s)
- Completion of a formal training program leading to a certificate related to forensic examinations, fraud investigation or white collar crime investigation
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
