Senior Cloud Engineer

We are currently seeking a highly motivated cloud software engineer who combines solid technical credentials for the position of Senior Cloud Engineer within our Infrastructure Hosting and Networks team. In this role, you will collaborate with technology peers and business partners to build and deploy the foundation for the next generation of modern cloud native software applications and services for Thomson Reuters.

As part of the Infrastructure Hosting and Networks organization, you will be part of a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, energetic, and high performing team at the heart of the Thomson Reuters transformation to developing cloud native applications and services focusing on AWS and cloud landing zone services. This group is nimble and creative and will shape our technology roadmap. This role will be instrumental to enabling the current and future world of cloud computing at Thomson Reuters. You will be challenged with identifying innovative ideas and proof of concepts to delivery against existing and future needs of our customers.

About the Role:
In this opportunity as Sr. Cloud Engineer, you will:

  • Develop solutions and services for managing Cloud accounts, focusing on AWS but also working with other providers such as Azure.
  • Collaborate with technologists across the company to build cloud native applications
  • Use CI/CD automation with python to manage cloud infrastructure.
  • Follow industry and internal cloud architecture best practices
  • Keep up to date with emerging trends relating to AWS and Azure.
  • Work in a global, highly collaborative, and dynamic team environment.
  • Work with PaaS (Platform as a Service) or IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) solutions.

About You:
You're a fit for the role of Sr. Cloud Engineer if your background includes:

  • Bachelor's degree in related technology program or relevant industry experience
  • Skills with Cloud Landing zones, especially AWS.
  • Experience with automation tools such as AWS CodePipeline, AWS CodeCommit, Git, CloudFormation
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to communicate large, complex designs in easy terms.
  • Ability to coach other team members, guide them through complex issues, and help up-skill you and your peers.
  • 4+ years of cloud experience.
  • Experience with 2 or more of the following technology groups:
    • Building cloud native applications using cloud native architecture in the public cloud.
    • Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking as well as related technology such as Load Balancers, Route53, Security Groups, VPC's, VPN Gateways, etc.
    • Knowledge in one or more scripting languages such as Python, Perl or UNIX/Shell
    • Comfortable working in Windows and Linux environments.
    • Experience deploying and managing RDS, EC2, Lambda, S3. Serverless technologies such as AWS Lambda or Azure Functions.
    • CloudWatch, CloudTrail, DataDog or other cloud monitoring services
    • Understanding of AWS Multi-Account Strategy, Control Tower, and Landing Zone concepts
