What You Will Do

As a Splunk Administrator, you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing our Splunk environment to ensure seamless operations and insightful data analysis. You will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining the Splunk infrastructure, ensuring it is robust, scalable, and up-to-date. You will also leverage Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tools to monitor and analyze application performance metrics, identifying trends, bottlenecks, and root causes of issues. Additionally, you will develop and implement Splunk dashboards, reports, and alerts, creating intuitive and actionable visualizations to support data-driven decision-making. Monitoring system performance and resolving issues will be a key part of your role, as you proactively identify and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks and system issues to maintain optimal functionality. Ensuring data integrity and security within the Splunk platform is essential, and you will implement best practices to safeguard data and maintain compliance with security standards. Collaboration with cross-functional teams will be vital, as you work closely with various teams to understand their data needs and provide tailored solutions that enhance their workflows. Finally, you will stay up-to-date with the latest Splunk features and best practices, continuously learning and applying new features and methodologies to improve the Splunk environment.

What You Will Need

To excel as a Splunk Administrator, you will need a strong foundation in Splunk administration and data analysis. This includes proven experience in installing, configuring, and maintaining Splunk infrastructure, as well as proficiency in developing dashboards, reports, and alerts. Proficiency in using APM tools like Dynatrace, New Relic, or AppDynamics to monitor and analyze application performance metrics is essential. You should be able to interpret performance data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and root causes of issues, and have strong problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve performance issues quickly. Familiarity with the architecture of the applications being monitored, including understanding of microservices, databases, and cloud environments, is important. Skills in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) to automate monitoring tasks and integrate APM tools with other systems are also required. You should be adept at troubleshooting system performance issues and have a solid understanding of data integrity and security best practices within the Splunk platform. Effective collaboration skills are essential, as you will work closely with engineers, business programs, and other security professionals to adapt and improve our security posture in applications, infrastructure, and cloud modernization efforts. Additionally, a commitment to continuous learning and staying up-to-date with the latest Splunk features and best practices is crucial.

Successful Candidates will have:

  • 5-8+ years of engineering experience


  • Prior experience with delivering security and application monitoring solutions for a hybrid environment of cloud and on-prem technology


  • Expertise in developing, and engineering applications and platforms in the cloud, Azure preferred


  • Strong knowledge of developing and implementing Splunk dashboards, reports, alerts and custom add-ons


  • Proficiency in using APM tools like Dynatrace, New Relic, or AppDynamics to monitor and analyze application performance metrics such as response time, throughput, and error rates


  • Ability to interpret performance data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and root causes of issues. This includes understanding key performance indicators (KPIs) and how they impact application performance


  • Troubleshooting Skills: Strong problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve performance issues quickly. This involves analyzing logs, tracing transactions, and pinpointing inefficiencies in code or infrastructure


  • Familiarity with the architecture of the applications being monitored, including understanding of microservices, databases, and cloud environments


  • Scripting and Automation: Skills in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) to automate monitoring tasks and integrate APM tools with other systems


  • Understanding business complexity and support needs of a large, multi-geo environment with various user personas


  • Passion for identifying problems, then creating and delivering robust solutions


  • Ability to lead groups of individuals on projects and provide mentorship to junior associates


  • Demonstrated skills in planning, building, and supporting scalable applications


  • Must be able to lead technical implementation strategy while attending to the day-to-day responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Splunk certification (e.g., Splunk Certified Admin, Splunk Certified Architect).


  • Experience with other data analytics tools and platforms.


  • Knowledge of IT security practices and protocols.


  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and their integration with Splunk, and knowledge of other security tools and APM tools.


  • Experience with automation tools and frameworks

This position has a starting salary range of $112,800.00 to $146,600.00 per year. Actual starting pay is determined by a number of factors, including relevant skills, qualifications, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual incentive as well as long-term incentives.
