What you'll do
It's safe to say, there's no shortage of variety in what we do. Here are some key accountabilities of the role:

  • This position is responsible for overseeing daily sales audit operations across TJX Canada to ensure daily sales are processed, captured, and balanced to store records, and that customer inquiries are responded to.
  • Oversees daily operations of Sales Audit team to ensure internal controls are followed within Stores; ensures that daily store sales are captured and released for general ledger reporting updates.
  • Responsible for preparing month end sales journal entries, validations, and reconciliations.
  • Monitors invoice/system exceptions, history, and ensures outstanding items are resolved on a timely manner; reviews sales audit results; compiles metrics and shares results with Leadership.
  • Investigates issues and collaborates with internal partners to reach resolution on daily sales audit issues; identifies, develops and implements process improvements and/or enhancements.
  • Provides education, training. and support of the Sales Audit processes to Stores, LP and other departments as required; ensures departments follow procedures and controls in compliance with Company policies (e.g. Store complying with Cash Office procedures).
  • Support Audit and SOX requests, store implementations (applications impacting point of sales, testing, issue identification).
  • Manages department priorities; organizes resources based on availability and department requirements.
  • Sets team talent plan spanning three (3) to six (6) months to assess and grow team members using tools such as talent assessment, IDPs, mid and year end reviews.
  • Fosters collaboration within department by providing training, direction, coaching, mentorship, feedback to achieve department objectives and is a resource to answer questions or discuss best practices; provides continuous feedback, motivates teams through formal/informal recognition.

What you'll need
To begin your career with us, we require the following:

  • A minimum three (3) years of professional work experience in Accounting or Finance; strong knowledge of accounting processes, principles and controls.
  • Minimum one (1) year of professional management / supervisory experience.
  • A post-secondary education in Accounting or Finance; working towards CPA designation is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills to provide solutions; ability to leverage prior experience and adapt quickly to the changing work environment to make effective decisions, revise business strategies to support strategic vision of the department.
  • Strong problem-solving skills including analysis of information (i.e. requirements; description of problems); provide solutions with cost implications to effectively resolve issues and execute strategic solutions.
  • Good people management skills including coaching, providing advice, and guidance to Associates to resolve problems; discuss and share best practices.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication skills and active listening ability; strong demonstrated public speaking, presentation, and persuasive influencing skills to build cross- functional relationships.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills; able to respond effectively and efficiently responding to both external and internal partners.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office suite - Word, Excel (data analysis, spreadsheet creation and data manipulation), PowerPoint; Power Bi and/or Tableau are considered assets.

Salary Range: $73,190 - $102,410/year

This represents the expected hiring range and may not represent the full pay range for the position. The salary offered may be higher than the posted range depending on several factors such as relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.
