Job Summary

Responsible for managing the daily activities within the Distribution Center Merchandising Department. Trains, develops, and manages the merchandising and accuracy control staff. Ensures that T.J. Maxx/Marshalls merchandising philosophies are followed.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Responsible for working closely with DC operational management to understand the priorities and ensures that the priorities and business goals are achieved. Works with Merchandising and Planning to understand merchandising business strategies and interprets these strategies to staff associates. Exhibits a strong clear understanding of Fashion, Quality, Price and Brand requirements and how each component influences the uniqueness of the business.
  • Identifies and communicates vendor opportunities to improve merchandise flow and reduction of damages to merchandise and shrinkage. Utilizes all internal resources (i.e., systems, reports, etc.) to assist in the effective merchandise flow to the stores. Frequently visits stores to assess the level of service that has been provided by the Distribution Center. Based on store visits recommends procedural and operational changes to DC Management.
  • Ensures that the standards of merchandise and accuracy control are being upheld within the DC at all times.
  • Oversees the proper execution of ads, LPRs (Locator Problem Logs), damages and RTVs (Return to Vendors).
  • Ensures all staff associates understand unit control and the effect on shrink within the DC.
  • Accurately determines staffing and other needs to support business needs.
  • Effectively shares information and networks with peers to achieve business results.
  • Responsible for managing associates within Merchandise Control/Accuracy Control. Educates and holds staff accountable to company standards related to Fashion, Quality, Price and Brand.
  • Builds effective teams through selection, training and ongoing development.
  • Encourages and supports staff to think independently and problem solve to reach effective decisions.
  • Continually looks for opportunities to develop staff. Makes training a priority.
  • Influences staff to think beyond the needs of the individual parties that they interact with on a day-to-day basis (i.e., Planning, Operations, Staff) to achieve optimal results of the business. Influences beyond own team; creates a network of influence with peers, Distribution Services management, Planning and Allocation, and stores.
  • Encourages staff to effectively challenge business decisions that relate to accuracy control. Initiates personal involvement, builds respect and credibility with all business partners. Effectively networks through the organizations.
  • Filters information appropriately and interprets information for all levels of staff.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, retailing, etc., or equivalent job experience.
  • Minimum of 6 years' experience, 3-5 years of management experience, 3-5 years of merchandising experience.
  • Strong knowledge of merchandising and accuracy control
  • Must be able to delegate, be adaptable, and possess excellent negotiating skills and be able to influence all levels of management in DC Operations and Merchandising.
  • Strong organizational and prioritizing skills; must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously



    This position has a starting pay range of $73,000 to $96,700. Actual starting pay is determined by a number of factors, including relevant skills, qualifications, and experience
