Manager of Truckload and Intermodal Carrier Management

Job Summary
The Manager of Truckload and Intermodal Carrier Management leads and is accountable for the strategic development of over 50 truckload and brokerage carriers, 8+ North American intermodal service providers, and 5 major U.S. railroads. This role is integral to our mission of optimizing logistics through strategic carrier partnerships, performance excellence, and innovative solutions. She or He is responsible for assessing and driving cost-effective and productive carrier initiatives that impact the supply chain, ensuring seamless execution in supporting and enabling TJX business goals.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies opportunities to improve TJX Logistics Provider strategy, inclusive of logistics provider performance, market trends, and demand shifts in the marketplace
  • Builds and maintains relationship with Truckload, Intermodal, and Brokerage Providers and serves as point of contact
  • Meets regularly with logistics provider partners to discuss forecasts and capacity information to improve planning
  • Responsible for Truckload, Intermodal, and Brokerage contractual agreements. Negotiates contract amendments to support new ventures and/or adjustments to existing services.
  • Analyzes logistics provider performance; develops and monitors performance improvement plans. Enforces service requirements for compliance to contractual obligations
  • Research industry performance, standards, and benchmarks to analyze logistics provider performance
  • Conducts formal business reviews, and makes relationship decisions as appropriate
  • Engages with relevant stakeholders, as needed, for the engagement or release of logistics provider
  • Serves as a point of escalation for operational chronic or repetitive issues with logistics provider
  • Defines and executes negotiation strategy and contracts to create a sustainable partnership with logistics provider
  • Defines schedule for, leads, and executes sourcing events on a defined cadence
  • Procures capacity for special projects, approves spot rates
  • Develops and negotiates contract language and terms with service providers in partnership with Logistics leadership and TJX Legal
  • Make decisions on shipment and spend award selection and allocation.
  • Introduction of new providers and/or termination of providers
  • Negotiate rates
  • Develop contract language (RFP/RFI)
  • Determine supply chain flow options: mode, routing, transit time, capacity, etc.
  • Identify and execute plans to meet budgets

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in the following areas: Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Business, Finance, Legal or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years of experience in a logistics leadership/management operational role or
  • 5+ years of experience in a logistics leadership/management operational role with another 5+ years of other relevant management experience

This position has a starting salary range of $113,600.00 to $147,700.00 per year. Actual starting pay is determined by a number of factors, including relevant skills, qualifications, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual incentive as well as long-term incentives.
