What you'll do
It's safe to say, there's no shortage of variety in what we do. Here are some key accountabilities of the role:
- This position is accountable for managing the financial closing processes and related activities to ensure accuracy and completeness of TJX financial statements on regular basis providing analysis and insights.
- Review and analyzes financial statements, supporting schedules/disclosures and SEC reporting filings - P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, Forms 10-Q, 10-K etc. with a focus on accuracy and conformity with GAAP.
- Review and approves journal entries, account reconciliations, and complex accruals to ensure accuracy of financial statements; ensures control environment (SOX) is maintained.
- Provide input and support on annual budgeting and monthly forecast processes
- Responsible for overseeing financial analysis, reviewing and presenting findings and recommendations to Senior Management.
- Lead regular budget reviews with Leadership and business partners to communicate relevant information; identifies any risks, concerns and impacts
- Research new or complex accounting issues and provide guidance to team and business partners.
- Identify and implement opportunities for operational improvement and efficiencies
- Support (may also lead) discussions with Internal and external auditors with related audits.
- Lead the oversight of special projects, management presentations, and ad-hoc requests.
- Build, maintain, and leverage strong partnerships with leaders across Finance to provide a holistic, influential business view; participates in cross-departmental teams to represent Financial Accounting team.
- Responsible for executing on the departments' strategic talent objectives through leadership, talent development, and coaching to ensure functional and diversified talent pool to fill key positions in support of current and future needs; participates in talent development discussions and talent review calibrations, sets and tracks team objectives.
- Mentor team members to elevate and build their forecasting & analysis knowledge, as well as on relationship management and business acumen and is a key resource to answer questions and discuss best practices.
What you'll need
To begin your career with us, we require the following:
- A minimum of five (5) years of professional Accounting experience, with exposure to financial reporting, forecasting, and analysis; experience supporting Retail Operations is preferred,
- Post-secondary education in related field (e.g. Business Administration, Economics, Finance/Accounting); CPA designation is considered an asset.
- Ability to apply strong knowledge of GAAP and TJX accounting policies to develop & lead tactical initiatives.
- Excellent computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets (i.e. advanced Microsoft Excel), and e-mail (i.e. MS Outlook, SharePoint); knowledge of accounting software, databases, and data manipulation tools (i.e. Oracle/ERP, TM1, Power Bi, Tableau).
- Advanced problem-solving skills including identification of issues, analysis of information; emergency problem solving (crisis management); providing support to staff in developing solutions to accounting problems.
- Strong issue management skills including organizational, interpersonal skills, conflict management, and information gathering.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to develop and build effective relationships with internal, external partners and team members; demonstrated collaborative skills, building credibility, respect and rapport with professional networks.
- Good people management skills including coaching, providing advice and guidance to Associates to resolve problems, evaluating performance and providing feedback to team members; participate in the recruitment, selection, and orientation of Associates.
Salary Range: $85,430 - $129,188 /year
This represents the expected hiring range and may not represent the full pay range for the position. The salary offered may be higher than the posted range depending on several factors such as relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.
