What you'll do
It's safe to say, there's no shortage of variety in what we do. Here are some key accountabilities of the role:
- Accountable for the proactive, timely and accurate daily compliance with customs requirements of all imported merchandise to ensure TJXC compliance with CBSA requirements and merchandise can efficiently cross the border. Additionally provide required documentation to support the collection of U.S. duties for Vendors on the duty drawback program so U.S duties can be recovered and allocated to TJXC profit line.
- Conducts compliance audit of documents and Customs data, including HS classification and duty assignment, prior to Customs accounting and payment
- Coordinates with Customs Release Specialists for shared ownership in timely completion of daily workflow for all imported merchandise
- Collaborates with 3rd party team in assisting with free trade certificate collection prior to RSF
- Liaises with Vendors, MAs, and Buyers in managing exceptions of missing import data and free trade certificates
- Prepares and provides regular updates to Customs Compliance Manager on flow, compliance opportunities and potential risks identified through targeted audit
What you'll need
To begin your career with us, we require the following:
- Minimum 3+ years' experience in Customs Compliance/Brokerage, with specialty in Tariff Classification
- Strong ability to interpret and utilize Customs legislation and supporting documents including the Customs Tariff Act, General Interpretive Rules for Tariff Classification, Explanatory Notes, D Memo
- Strong knowledge of CBSA and other Government Agency import regulations and requirements, with ability to solicit information from Government officials
- Strong knowledge of Preferential Tariff Treatment and Free Trade Agreement requirements and documentation, with ability to spot errors or missing information
Salary Range: $58,910 - $82,472 /year
This represents the expected hiring range and may not represent the full pay range for the position. The salary offered may be higher than the posted range depending on several factors such as relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.
