Location: Preferably within 4h drive of Eindhoven, Netherlands. Locations within EMEA (well connected by airport and/or rail) also considered. Travel up to 50%.

How will you make an impact?

In line with the strategic objectives of the EMEA Material Science Commercial Organization, this role is to explain and support technical and commercial advantages of Thermo Scientific TEM Instruments to improve the business potential in the Material Science market. This key role increases pipeline and pushes innovation and is instrumental to supporting our Material Science growth strategy in EMEA!

What will you do?

You will work in a multi-disciplinary team, partnering closely with the others in the Sales and Service organization to learn, understand and develop the market, use your technical understanding and product knowledge to improve sales strategy, develop presentations to support plans, reply to tenders, direct applicable product solutions and develop effective processes for closing opportunities.

Using your technical knowledge and excellent communication you can optimally engage prospects and be a consistent point of technical information on the product portfolio represented. Working the entire sales cycle from lead to closure, this role will work many aspects to make business successful, including NanoPort colleagues (our demonstration facilities), Account Managers, and Product Leaders in Marketing and Management functions.

As an Electron Microscopy authority, you will deliver on a product quota, help drive the regional tactics and support territory development for academia and industry.

You will be the main technical contact for Account Managers, the face of the Thermo Scientific brand for external customers, partners & clients in most situations including technical explanations, distilling customer needs to internal team members to develop solutions, supporting specific external-supplier/partner proposals and observing, reporting and reacting to market trends.

In this role you will constantly build and support relationships with key opinion leaders through outstanding delivery of seminars, workshops and product training and support key regional marketing events.

The role will be an authoritative resource from product to field; being a key component of the customer feedback loop to support key application development.

How will you get here?

  • Extensive knowledge/ experience with TEM (Transmission Electron Microscope) instruments is a must. Experience with other high-end analytical equipment (like TEM holders, TEM cameras, sample preparation, SEM, FIB-SEM, XPS, EDS, CL, Atom Probe, or related material science and/or industry specific techniques) will be very useful.
  • Experience in working in a matrix organization whereas you are responsible for clear communication throughout your team.
  • Previous client-facing commercial experience desirable.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Proactive self-starter.
  • Willingness to learn, understand and develop commercial skills.
  • Clear understanding of Material science applications in research and particularly as this relates to industry and industrial production needs.
  • Extensive hands-on TEM operational experience & understanding of ground breaking techniques.
  • Typically requires a M.Sc. degree or higher in Materials Science, Chemistry and or Physics and extensive electron microscopy experience
  • Initiating and supporting sales development efforts in EMEA with creative ideas.
  • Confident and engaging when speaking in public and client settings.
  • Clear and open communication in English is important. German-, French- or Arabic-speaking countries are other key markets so speaking additional languages can be a bonus.
  • Understanding customer markets, requirements, laboratory processes/methods and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain successful customer relationships (internal and/or external).
  • Articulate how our products impact material science and generate value for applications.
  • Prioritize requirements and meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Continuously improve processes.
