The Materials and Structural Analysis (MSD) Electron Microscopy (EM) business enables customers to find meaningful answers to questions that accelerate breakthrough discoveries, increase efficiency, and ultimately change the world. Discover Impactful Work:

The Technical Support Specialist supports the installation, uptime and repair of highly technical equipment and systems. This includes working with NPD (New Product Development), Applications and OE (Operations Engineering) on new and existing product developments, developing troubleshooting methods and leading product and process improvements.

Location: Fremont, CA

A day in the Life:

  • Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) projects as they transition from initiation through release according to Product Management Process (PMP)..
  • Assist logistics and document management with Technical Product Documentation (TPD) and specification support.
  • Using available data, identify areas requiring sustaining projects for design, quality and cost improvements.
  • Complete component obsolescence projects on current and near end of life products.
  • Builds manufacturing process for new products and preventative maintenance plan for product support in the field. May design tooling required for manufacturing and service to meet cycle time and tool availability requirements.
  • Delivers training to Manufacturing, Technical Support and Service personnel in new product build, test, install and repair procedures. Also, gives input for ongoing training for factory and field service engineers.
  • Support critical issues on the production floor to ensure on time shipments. Drive follow-up actions to ensure issues are resolved.
  • Respond and support safety issues reported on the manufacturing floor and/or field service.
  • Support interface for Global Technical Support team as needed.

Keys to Success:

Education

Bachelors' degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering

Experience

  • 5+ yrs of plus experience as an Operations Engineer, Process Engineer or similar field strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in documenting procedures, work instructions and engineering reports, and with analysis of data and basic experimental methods, test protocols, and procedures.
  • Experience participating and leading highly successful technical projects and management of multi-functional projects from inception to completion.
  • Background in developing and deploying new products into a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with Practical Process Improvements (PPI) including cost reduction by workflow or design improvements and driving improvements that affect quality.
  • Proficiency in Failure Analysis and Troubleshooting.

Skills:

  • Experience in bringing technology solutions to improve the quality, efficiency, and cost of manufacturing and service.
  • Knowledge of core technologies, including vacuum, SEM, optics design and alignment, motion control, lasers and process automation.
  • Knowledge of applications in the field of Electrical Failure Analysis (EFA).
  • Detailed problem solving using structured troubleshooting techniques.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Must have the ability to obtain a valid passport and travel regionally and internationally as required.
  • Fluent in English (verbal and written)
  • Ability to travel domestic and international up to 30%

Compensation and Benefits
The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in Texas is $37.00-$54.00.
