Location/Division

As a member of Thermo Fisher Scientific's Life Sciences Solutions Group (LSG), the Technical Application Specialist plays a crucial role in the company's overall value proposition. LSG offers a diverse portfolio of life sciences products, outstanding sales and support teams, and extensive supply center coverage.

This position will be onsite at one of the following locations. This position does not offer relocation.

What will you do?

  • Provide technical support for Thermo Fisher Scientific protein biology product lines and services by answering customer technical inquiries. Inquiries may be received via telephone, email or web chat.
  • Apply all available resources to provide customer support on technical issues, and raise concerns or problems when necessary.
  • Engage in regular training sessions to stay up-to-date with the latest scientific knowledge, product advancements, and new technologies.
  • Accurately record pertinent information from customer contacts in Customer Relationship Management system.
  • Summarize trends and technology as technical tips, FAQ's and troubleshooting guides.
  • Recommend changes to knowledge databases, website, and other company-managed databases of technical information.
  • Present technical updates to colleagues and contribute to department meetings.
  • Participate in additional special team or individual projects.
  • May be required to perform other related duties as opportunities arise.
  • Some travel may be required for the position.

How will you get here?

Education

  • Minimum Qualifications: B.S., B.A., or M.S. in life sciences or chemistry or a similar field, or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications: PhD. or equivalent experience, including post-doctoral experience.

Experience

  • 3+ years of laboratory experience in protein biology techniques or demonstrated equivalency of knowledge. Techniques like Electrophoresis, Western Blot, Mass Spectrometry, and Sample Preparation are most applicable.
  • Prior experience in customer service a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Proven ability to quickly learn large amounts of new, complex technical information.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing,
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Problem-solving ability and natural curiosity.
  • Computer literacy, including spreadsheet, database, word processing and Internet applications.
  • Fluency in European languages (German, French, Spanish, Italian) a plus.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $66,000.00-$90,000.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
