Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is excited to offer an outstanding opportunity for a Team Lead Applications Scientist - Structural Biology at our brand-new Center of Excellence for cryo-EM. This role presents exciting challenges and the opportunity to implement innovative strategies in a collaborative and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of the Center of Excellence application scientist team, including personnel, performance, and career development.
  • Motivate and challenge the team while encouraging constructive and collaborative working relationships.
  • In collaboration with Business Development, handle customer relations, and coordinate monthly/quarterly/biannual strategic meetings.
  • Implement innovative single-particle analysis workflow strategies to deliver protein and protein structures.
  • Offer mentorship on biochemical and sample preparation strategies, sample screening, and high-resolution data collection, as well as standard methodologies for cryo-EM implementation in BioPharma and Biotech environments.
  • Establish and cultivate relationships with product managers and R&D colleagues to support exploration and validation of new product concepts (hardware and software).
  • Maintain and monitor system performance.
  • Identify and resolve software and hardware issues.
  • Support activities to ensure high-quality results and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or Structural Biology (PhD or equivalent experience).
  • Extensive background in high-end electron microscopy.
  • Proven track record to lead a team of highly educated, highly skilled professionals.
  • Experience interacting with customers, service teams, and R&D colleagues.
  • Strong communication and intercultural skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, direct multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail, commitment to delivering quality work, and dedication to ongoing improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to a diverse audience.
  • Ability to interact with cross-functional and cross-cultural teams.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $100,000.00-$149,950.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
