Exciting Opportunity: Join our Central Tax Team as a Tax /Finance Analyst

Are you looking for a new challenge in the field of tax analysis? Thermo Fisher Scientific is pleased to announce an opportunity within our Central Tax Team. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our diverse and dynamic team.

You will be responsible for handling the preparation of transfer pricing documentation for a portfolio of legal entities. Your duties will also include participating in fact-finding interviews with functional leaders, collecting and analyzing data, and incorporating relevant information into the transfer pricing documentation. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with key members of tax, business, and finance teams across our global organization. You will also provide support for requests from external advisors, auditors, or taxing authorities.

The position is part of a larger team that provides global transfer pricing support from a central tax team in Paisley UK to our regions in EMEA, APAC and Americas. The team is responsible for the Global tax compliance of local file transfer pricing documentation for a large number of entities across all businesses.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Financial or Transfer Pricing Analyst to join the existing Paisley UK based tax team. It is an exciting opportunity to work in an expanding Global tax team in an organization considered a global leader in its field which offers great career support, development and opportunities.

The position will support the inhouse transfer pricing documentation team. The role will assist with preparation and maintenance of company's transfer pricing documentation in accordance with local requirements and the company's policies and procedures. The role will participate with team members in fact-finding interviews with business functional leaders and incorporate information into the transfer pricing analysis. In this role, there is the opportunity to learn business skills and build systems knowledge as the team refines processes and implements analysis tools. Completion of timely, accurate transfer pricing documentation is key to this role.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist on preparation and maintenance of transfer pricing documentation files in accordance with local governmental requirements.
  • Collect data, reconcile to other information sources and generate reports.
  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Participate in fact-finding interviews with business functional leaders and incorporate information into the transfer pricing analysis.
  • Support requests from external auditors or taxing authorities.
  • Develop understanding of Thermo Fisher Scientific's businesses and policies.
  • Work closely with Finance and Tax teams across the global organization and external advisors.
  • Conduct business and tax regulation research.
  • Support wider tax team on ad-hoc projects.

Key Skills:

  • Organizational abilities to prioritize multiple information requests, details and deadlines.
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical skills and experience working with financial information.
  • Ability to work independently to compile information for assigned portfolio.
  • Analytical skills to review and reconcile financial information across multiple data sources.
  • Skilled in writing and proofing descriptive materials.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with focus on process improvements through automation and tool usage.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Financial systems experience with HFM or other ERP systems and E1 and / or SAP beneficial.
  • Basic research skills for tax regulations and relevant tax law changes.
  • Support and implementation of team's business processes.
  • HND/degree level in accounting or equivalent practical experience of 4 years or more.
  • Previous experience in finance, accounting or tax required.
  • Team player with good communication skills and ability to work with key members of the tax, business and finance teams around the world.
  • High level of energy; can bring a passion to excel.
