How you will make an impact!

This position is within the Fisher BioServices business unit of Thermo Fisher Scientific. As the Laboratory Supervisor, you will lead both the lab and technicians in support of GLP/GMP processing and analysis of clinical samples.

What will you do

Effectively manage a team of lab technicians through strong role-model leadership and motivation to achieve outstanding performance in all fields including employee engagement, career development, Quality, and PPI.

Lead and manage labor resources as the need arises to deliver processing plan execution to meet site metrics at optimal cost.

Manage the training and development of your team to achieve optimum sample quality. This will include all SOPs, quality system requirements, documentation, GMP and 6S. Identify ongoing training needs and collaborate with the Training department to maintain the skills matrix for all lab employees.

Drive effective communication at all levels via formal/ informal meetings, briefings, and visual aids, including delivery of Tier meetings. Work closely with other Business functions (Planning, Operations, Client Services, HR, etc.) to resolve issues as and when they arise.

Manage laboratory equipment maintenance and calibrations.

Ensure that the lab aligns with all local, state and federal regulations.

Establish new equipment and processes in the lab through technical expertise.

Conduct investigations (accidents/ disciplinary's, root-cause analysis) and recommend and implement the appropriate corrective or preventative actions in a timely manner.

Apply PPI and lean manufacture to achieve operational excellence in safety, quality, utilization, and yield.

How will you get there?

  • 6+ years of experience in a manufacturing or research laboratory required.
  • 1+ years of experience in a supervisory role preferred.
  • GLP/GMP laboratory experience required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Visio, etc.) to analyze, organize, and communicate data/information throughout the organization in a clear and concise manner.
  • Able to plan and resolve issues that involve gaining teamwork of multi-functional, multi-cultural groups and sites without damaging relationships.
  • Knowledge of core technologies including DNA/RNA extraction, NGS, PBMC isolation, Array technologies, and process automation.
  • BSL2 Laboratory experience preferred.
