Position Overview: The Accounting Supervisor role at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is an exceptional opportunity to lead a world-class accounting department. As the Supervisor, you will oversee the daily operations of the department, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting while maintaining compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This role involves supervising accounting staff, managing the general ledger, and assisting with the preparation of financial statements.

Supervision and Leadership:

  • Supervise and lead a team of accounting professionals, providing training, guidance, and performance evaluations.
  • Delegate tasks and ensure team members meet deadlines with flawless accuracy.

Financial Reporting:

  • Oversee the preparation of monthly statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP or relevant standards.
  • Coordinate with external auditors during audits and provide necessary documentation.

General Ledger Management:

  • Manage and maintain the general ledger, including account reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Monitor and analyze accounting data to produce flawless financial reports.

Compliance and Controls:

  • Ensure strict compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations to determine necessary adjustments.
  • Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard assets.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify and recommend proven process improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Apply effective accounting procedures and systems.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives as needed.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with other departments to gather necessary financial information.
  • Communicate financial results and provide valuable insights to senior management.
  • Address and resolve accounting issues and discrepancies promptly.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Meticulous and precise with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
