Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Strategy and BD Manager to join our team at Thermo Fisher Scientific in Shanghai. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on exciting corporate strategy initiatives and business development projects to position our China business for future success.

The successful candidate will need to apply critical thinking and business acumen to help China leadership to identify growth opportunities, conduct market and competitor analysis, and define Thermo Fisher's growth strategy for short, medium and long term. The role every day involves in-depth data analysis, problem solving and critical thinking, as well as matrix level stakeholder management and leadership engagement at local and global level.

This is a China level role with broad exposure to all Thermo Fisher's businesses and end markets, a great learning and career development opportunity.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing strategic plans that align with company's goals
  • Conducting market research and identifying areas of opportunity for growth
  • Conducting competitor benchmarking and internal capability assessment
  • Analyzing market and financial data to identify trends, understand business performance and make informed recommendations and decisions
  • Managing cross-functional team to ensure initiative alignment and oversea execution plan to achieve objectives

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of working experience, with a significant amount spent in corporate level strategy and business development, management consulting role, or 4+ years of working experience if with a significant amount spent in strategy consulting firm with relevant project experiences (e.g. life science tool, bioprocessing, analytical instruments, CRO/CDMO, drug discovery or research and development)
  • Strong academic background, with preference given to those with scientific degree such as biochemistry, life science, medical science etc. or an advanced degree such as PhD or MBA
  • Strong analytical and technical skills to evaluate opportunities and make informed recommendations and decisions
  • Ability to think critically and analyze complex problems from multiple perspectives
  • Ability to think strategically and align with company objectives for the long term
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluency in both Chinese and English
  • Motivated, highly organized, friendly, and adept at working collaboratively
  • Experience in relevant industries a plus (e.g., life science tool, analytical instruments, bioprocessing, biotech, CRO/CDMO)
