How will you make an impact?

The Staff Scientist will play a pivotal role in the success of developing fully automated, sample-to-report NGS workflows for applications for both clinical and research usage. This will be achieved by working closely with a team of bioinformatics algorithm developers, software engineers, molecular biology scientists and product managers to gather requirements, design test plan and test cases, validate algorithm and the SW requirements for various NGS-based oncological assays.

What will you do?

  • Representing software team in program core team and interacting with colleagues from diverse functions such as molecular biologist, algorithm developers and product manager. Help with translating internal/external customer needs to software product requirements. Help with tracking project timelines and complete all required documentations for RUO or IVD products.
  • Design test plans and test cases to validate algorithm and software product requirements for various NGS-based oncological assays.
  • Develop automation tools/scripts to increase testing automation coverage.
  • Leading a project and driving the project to completion.

How will you get here?

Education

  • Master's degree or higher in Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering or related Biological fields, with 3+ years related working experience

Experience

  • Experiences with testing different NGS applications - oncology, reproductive health is strongly preferred
  • Excellent understanding software testing and documentation best-practices in a regulated environment is strongly preferred
  • Ability to read Java code in an Unix environment is desired

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must have good knowledge and experiences of using and understanding common bioinformatics tools and algorithms used in NGS analysis.
  • Must be detail oriented and be able to quickly learn and rigorously adapt to team's standard process.
  • Excellent verbal and writing communication skills, ability to effectively communicate with different functional teams.
  • Strong scripting skills in Python, Perl with demonstrated ability.
  • Strong expertise in using Linux/Unix environment and experiences using relational database.
  • Demonstrated leadership in leading project to completion.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $130,000.00-$180,000.00.
