Discover Impactful Work:
For this exciting role based in Singapore you will ensure trade compliance export activities for our Singapore and South East Asia ("SEA") legal entities. This includes:
- Adherence to all applicable Singapore, SEA, and U.S. laws and regulations pertaining to international trade as well ensuring compliance with Thermo Fisher Scientific corporate, divisional and local policies
- Perform and evaluate the process for accurate transaction screening and review of transactions, including denied and restricted party screening
- Harmonized Tariff Schedule ("HTS") and Export Control Classification ("ECCN")
- Request, Check, and approve due diligence documentation
- Assist Divisional Trade Compliance with the implementation of Global Trade Compliance software
- Export license determination and application
- Build and Implement a Free Trade Agreement program for applicable exports
- Follow the timely reporting obligations to appropriate customs authorities
- Review blocks and release orders in ERP and our Global Trade Compliance Software
- Identify training needs, co-develop and provide training
- Assist in developing and deploying company policies and processes relating to trade compliance matters
- Support the continuous improvement of the company's trade compliance program
- Records retention: handling the import/export transaction documentation and performing random audit check as required by company policy and regulations
Keys to Success:
Education
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent combination of experience and education is preferred.
Experience
- 3-5 years overall experience within export control compliance functions, ideally in an international environment
- FTA/COO knowledge and expertise
- HTS and ECCN Classification
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Ability to adapt and balance multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with excellent attention to detail
- Familiar with continuous improvement activities (PPI, Kaizen, JDI)
- Strong oral and written communication skills in both Malay and English
- Knowledge of MS Suite Software preferred
- Self-motivated and driven with excellent collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, proactive, with a positive demeanor
