Position Summary:
The position is based in the Operations area primarily focusing on the manufacture and in process testing of in-vitro diagnostic devices. The role requires the individual to work in accordance with documented procedures / standards to complete duties within the allotted timescales, to customer specification. To give mentorship and support to Technicians working within the same area. This is a fast paced position that constantly requires a high volume of productivity and accuracy. The industry sector demands strict safety, quality, product integrity and high levels of accuracy.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure housekeeping and 5S standards are maintained.
- Take ownership for delivery of quality at all times following good manufacturing practices (GMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Highlight and propose solutions to any H&S risk, near miss or accidents
- Follow and maintain COSHH and risk assessments
- Build, follow, improve and maintain compliance to all SOPs through training and refresher programmes
- Effectively communicate with other departments
- Ensure schedule adherence, collaborating closely with Team Leaders to plan upcoming work
- Responsible for equipment and completion of paperwork to the required standard
- Use the ERP system to log work progress and manage inventory, take a lead role in ensuring inventory is available to meet the schedule and accurately maintained on the system
- Carry out process sign offs, ensure that product meets the required specification
- Give guidance and support to technicians, act as a mentor to other members of the group
- Training and development of staff
- Identification, communication and correction of problems to prevent delays and down-time.
- Be a subject matter expert for assigned processes or equipment
- Highlight and improve process efficiencies to achieve business objectives and applying PPI and Lean tools.
- Represent Production, assist during audits to ensure compliance
- Deputise for team leader
- Undertake any other duties on an ad-hoc basis as the need arises
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5x GCSE (including English & Mathematics) or equivalent experience / qualification
- Computer literate
Essential Skills / Experience:
- Strong communication skills (verbal & written)
- Good standard of English (verbal & written)
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice or previous experience in a manufacturing or laboratory environment
- Experience of working in a team
- Excellent time management, organisation and planning skills
- Ability to problem solve
- Enthusiastic with good self motivation
Although not essential, the following skills and experience would be advantageous:
- Degree in a relevant Scientific subject
- Worked within a GMP environment
- Worked within an operational environment.
- Lean/six sigma or process improvement experience.
- Experience of training others
