GROUP/DIVISION SUMMARY

This Project Management Position is part of the Clinical Next Generation Sequencing Division (CSD) which supplies "sample to answer" instrument, software and reagent solutions; has the leading position in research markets; and is the market leader in targeted sequencing and clinical Next- Generation Sequencing.

How will you make an impact?

This role is charged with driving and overseeing the development and execution of assigned projects within the Clinical Next Generation Sequencing Division of Thermo Fisher with an emphasis on operations-focused actions and results. To ensure delivery of on time product launches, the candidate should be proficient in industry standard project management processes, tools, and strategies.

The Project Manager will coordinate cross functionally with R&D, Product Management, Marketing, Finance, Planning, QA/QC, Tech Transfer, Engineering, and the Divisional Leadership team to ensure robust processes are implemented and followed in manufacturing, including crafting of accurate requirements, batch records, specifications and associated documents. Projects will include New Product Introduction (NPI), in accordance with company product commercialization process guidelines and documentation, manufacturing transfer(s) across internal sites, sustaining, OEM, and process improvement. In order to enable success, the candidate should be proficient in leading teams without direct management authority and demonstrate leadership through influence.

What will you do?

  • Lead the detailed planning and management of operations activities in various projects through to completion. Ensuring key requirements and achievements are met; applying detailed risk management practices, continuous improvement tools and prioritization of resources.
  • Acknowledge and call out gaps, challenges, and inefficiencies that may hinder the success of a project as appropriate
  • Follow the Project Management Framework and corporate processes to complete projects, ensuring compliance with all deliverables and stage gate reviews.
  • Deliver the assigned projects to successful conclusion (on time, on budget, and in scope)
  • Ensure appropriate tools and techniques are available and employed by the project teams to enable them to meet their assigned objectives successfully
  • Identify program risks, assess impact, and complete subsequent mitigation plans
  • Develop standard methodologies and tools for project execution and management
  • Work with Operations PM Team to solidify and adhere to process for prioritizing and subsequently resourcing projects as needed

How will you get here?
Education:

  • Master's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in scientific field with equivalent experience, Project Management, or Business Management highly preferred, or equivalent work experience acceptable.

Experience:

  • 8+ years of related experience, preferably in an operations-focused environment
  • 5+ years experience applying project management software tools (MS Project, Miro, Jira)
  • Experience in delivery of successful enterprise-wide projects
  • Must have comprehensive understanding of Document Control Practices (Agile or Equivalent)
  • Prior experience leading FMEA and associated Risk Analysis a plus
  • Competency in Agile, Scrum methodologies, Tier Management
  • Experience working in an IVD/Medical Device/Biotech/Food industry a plus
  • Six-Sigma/PMP/CPIM certification a plus
  • Experience working in a shared-services environment

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Proficient with MS Office, in particular Project, Teams, and Excel
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and excellent documentation skills are a must
  • The ability to interact professionally with a diverse group: executives, managers, and subject matter experts
  • Ability to balance the long-term ("big picture") and short-term implications of individual decisions
  • Excellent critical thinking, crisis management, and decision-making skills required
  • Self-motivated, positive attitude, patient, with a passion for learning and always driving for continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution skills
  • Proven ability to lead matrixed team of professional to complete projects on time

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in Maryland is $93,800.00-$140,675.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
