The Thermo Fisher Scientific St. Louis site is a multi-product and multi-client bio-pharmaceutical site with manufacturing facilities for pharmaceutical products for both (pre)clinical trials and commercial applications.
As a Sr. Automation Project Engineer, you will lead and collaborate with internal and external partners to develop, estimate, and deliver Capital Engineering projects, ensuring innovation and excellence in every initiative.

What Will You Do
- Innovative Solutions: Collaborate across multiple groups to provide innovative solutions for our clients.
- Project Leadership: Lead capital projects with diverse design requirements, including Distributed Control Networks, SCADA's, MES systems, OSI PI.
- Team Direction: Direct projects and teams, ensuring all critical activities are planned and agreed upon by the customer.
- Master Scheduling: Develop and maintain a comprehensive project schedule from Basis of Design (BOD) through validation and turnover.
- Design & Development: Lead all aspects of the design and development of site OT master plan.
- Development of distributed control and supervisory systems, SCADA, Historians and SQL type program development.
- Pi Historians, relational Data Bases, and visualization software.
- Executive Updates: Prepare and present project updates to executive levels and steering committees.
- Change Requests: Handle site change requests and support User Requirements Specification (URS) development.
- Financial Leadership: Manage all financial aspects of your assigned projects.
How Will You Get Here?
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field is required; preferred Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
Experience:
- 7-10 years of experience in engineering and automation systems, ideally within Pharmaceutical, Nutritional, Packaging, or Aseptic environments.
- Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Ability to address issues of moderate to high complexity regarding processes and product quality within facilities, equipment, and manufacturing support areas.
- Competence in making decisions that account for compliance and product quality risks.
- Experience leading projects of moderate to high complexity and leading compliance-related challenges.
- Experience leading large capital projects in engineering and construction.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and reliably.
- Strong time management, multitasking, and prioritization skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external partners.
- Highly effective verbal and written communication skills.
